My primary care suggested surgery
Hi all. I’m 21, and I had braces when I was 14. I remember being told I had a pretty bad overbite, but I thought nothing of it until yesterday. My primary care doctor looked at my jaw and told me it was recessed. She then said she was a bit concerned about the wear on my enamel and referred me to an orthodontist. She asked if I’ve ever had any symptoms, and I said that I did hear my ears pop quite frequently, clicking in my jaw, always been a mouth breather because I found that nose breathing never felt effective, and I wake up sometimes with headaches or sore throats. She suggested surgery and beginning with the orthodontist.
I have never heard about this prior to yesterday, and I would really love some advice on if this is actually something to consider or if it was just one opinion. I’ve no idea where to begin.
Thank you. Also, ear plugs are in because my roommates are currently having a party.
