Continuing Professional Development (CPD) with Aberdeen short courses (Process/Chemical Engineering)
Hi Everyone,
I am about to graduate with MSc Advanced Chemical Engineering from Strathclyde University. While I am waiting for the final result (I expect distinction, as I marked around 80% on average), I am looking into continuing my education, but not feeling ready for a PhD yet.
As a result, I came across a few courses from Aberdeen‘s University, which seem to fit my interests and context.
The courses are online and delivered via MyAberdeen platform. This fits my schedule perfectly, as I am employed full-time.
I am thinking of taking these two starting 21st September:
Safety and Risk Management
Human Factors in Industrial Practice
And two out of the following three in January:
Advanced Process Control
Human Factors Engineering
Applied Risk Analysis and Management
Has anyone taken these courses, and if yes, what can you tell about them? Is the course quality high (Strathclyde was a mix of high-quality courses and low-quality, decade-old recordings and handwritten scanned pdfs), and most importantly, is it relevant?
The descriptions of these sound highly applicable to industry roles (HAZID, HAZOP, reliability calculations, etc.) and my expectations are no different.
Are other universities/companies offering similar programs that are better in terms of quality and relevance to industry?
TDLR: Has anyone taken these courses or knows more about them, or similar courses (from other institutions), or maybe can give some advice on generally continuing education after graduation.
Thanks in advance, your input is appreciated!
