2024 Refund...Not what I was expecting...
Well, FINALLY heard back from the IRS regarding our 2024 tax refund (yeah, been that long waiting on a $6500 refund).
Never in a million years did I think I'd get a letter stating that I stead of getting my $6500 refund, I owe $38,000 in back taxes. Why...because the piece of shit company i worked for in 2024 apparently NEVER actually paid the fing Federal withholding they were supposed to. Unbelievable that after sending in the W2 i received from the company as well as a signed letter from the company's CFO stating they paid my federal withholding, the IRS says they still have no record of receiving said money. So guess I need to lawsuit up against my former employer?
Talk about a total fing crap show...
Update: 5/11 - After spending a good 45 minutes in IRS phone queue hell, finally got to the automated waiting list feature and I am supposed receive a call back in another 45 minutes. I have my company issued w2 and the company issued signed letter (per the IRS's request BTW) read to go. I think my personal favorite is at the bottom of the 105 C Letter is the 2 year timeline they it could take to resolve. Man, if there isn't another reason to completely revamp this entire system, this is it. What I find interesting is that on the Wage/Income IRS Transcripts, all of the information is the same as my W2, so I am really perplexed here....
Update #2: 5/11 - Finally got to speak to a human being at the IRS and honestly, they were freaking wonderful to talk to. We think we nailed down the issue and it appears my Tax Advocate from my local congressmen's office dropped the ball on this and never actually sent in all the paperwork I had sent her. So, the IRS closed my case because of lack of documentation (on a side note, happy as hell this local congressman is not running for re-election as he and his office has been worthless for years). My local congressman's office was playing middleman so I never got to directly engage with my tax manager from the IRS. So, have to fax in the documentation I have later today and hopefully this should solve its self.
