Spay During Observation Period?
Hi guys! My girl got past the treatment phase and is now in observation. My vet didn't want us to get her spayed while she was going through treatment, however since we're in observation, he wants to get her spayed asap.
I know it says all over the place not to, my admins said as much as well. I feel like I'm between a rock and a hard place. On one hand, I don't want to put her under surgical stress, but heat itself gets cats stressed. I'm also worried about pyometra, especially if that happens combined with potential FIP relapse.
I had planned to get her spayed months ago, but FIP had other plans. I realize afterwards I should've gotten her spayed near the end of the treatment cycle, but I wasn't aware at the time.
Has anyone gotten their cats spayed during observation? For reference, it's been just over two weeks since stopping the medicine and she just started her next heat cycle today.
