BC/periods with ADHD

First off I have lots of kids, but I’m not ready to permanently close the baby-factory. Not looking to get my tubes tied or for hubby to have a vasectomy. I currently have a hormonal IUD.

I’ve been diagnosed about 10 years now, but only medicated for the last year or so. I sort of was stuck in survival mode and just white-knuckling life. Not great for my mental health, so now I’m trying to pay attention and actually work with my brain.

I know there’s been more studies and acknowledgement that hormones affect adhd. I try and keep track of my cycles to see if there’s a correlation between mood/productivity and my cycles. But a snag I’ve been running into, is that with my iud I don’t have regular cycles that I can track. I will go months between periods, or have spotting for a day and I don’t know if that’s a period or not.

I’ve been contemplating switching birth control to one that gives me an actual cycle. Definitely not a pill, but maybe one of the rings you put in for 3 weeks and take out for a week to have a period (Nuvaring or Annovera). I’ve used them before with success.

But is this me just being crazy? I feel a little crazy. Is there another way to figure out my invisible cycles? Or should I just suck it up?
