Looking for career advice after an MA in Politics (International Relations) from JNU
I’ll be completing my graduation next year and am planning to pursue an MA in Politics with a specialization in International Relations from JNU. My main goals are UPSC, SSC CGL, State PCS and other government exams.
I’m interested in JNU partly because the MA would complement my UPSC preparation, but I also want to have a realistic backup plan in case I don’t clear these exams. I’m not particularly interested in going into the PhD or traditional teaching route.
For people who have done this MA from JNU, or have a similar academic background, what realistic career options are available after the degree apart from teaching/PhD and government exams? How useful is the degree for getting into other fields, and what skills, internships or qualifications should one build during the MA to keep those options open?
I’d especially appreciate advice from people who have actually pursued this degree or are currently working after completing it.
