Account creating AI copies of songs and taking ownership of the original track?
An account called p6yment has stolen the songs of several artists by creating AI covers and has then somehow taken ownership of the original listing, meaning that the song shows on the p6yment account and not the account of the original artist.
The biggest example of this is Roleplaying Game (25 million streams) by soramafuurasaka. There are several other songs that also have millions of streams that have been taken from original artists of all different genres and time periods.
It’s not that this account has made an AI cover and uploaded it, but that they’ve somehow replaced the original listing with the AI track and have taken ownership of the original song listing. These songs are gone from the accounts of the original artists. You can’t listen to the original track as it’s been replaced with the AI one. This account has been listed as the main artist for all of these songs.
Has anyone seen this exploit before?
I don’t think this can be reported as it seems you can only make copyright claims for content that you own. Not sure what this would come under.
It’s annoying as all of the streams are going to this fake account and there’s no way of listening to the original (non-AI) versions of these songs on the platform anymore. So far, tens of millions of streams have been transferred over to this account.
