Hey all, looking to see if anyone can help me figure out what’s making this sound on my 2005 Cadillac Escalade AWD 6000 Vortec V8. Comes up every now and then on my drives (sometimes while I’m parked). Completely random, haven’t been able to provoke or stop the noise. Occurs for about 15 seconds to 4 minute intervals. No vibrations in the pedals or steering wheel. All gauges are in normal ranges, no service lights present. Nothing feels off while driving. Noise occurs with AC on or off.
Did some research and I found one YouTube Short with a similar noise suggesting it was a pump rub in the transfer case, but no further diagnostic efforts shown. Other videos are “How-To’s” on replacing the pump gear. But I don’t hear the noise when I’m under the car and I don’t want to spend money on something I don’t need to change. Car has about 193,000 miles on it if that’s helpful. Last service was spark plugs that I did myself at 180,000.
Any advice on how to diagnose it is helpful, might just have to take it into the shop.
