There seems to be an accepted narrative that it's ok to equate every bad thing (or almost every thing) that happens to Manon "solo stans". I just wanted to give my two cents on it.

Defending/Liking Manon doesn't mean

  • You only like Manon (solo stan)
  • You hate the other girls
  • She's an innocent angel that has done no wrong

You don't have to put down Manon or villainize her fans to defend the other girls.

You can acknowledge her unfair treatment and not even be a solo fan or fan at all.

Toxicity exists in every fan base. We can all see the amount of negative posts she gets, and it's highly unlikely that her own fans are posting them, so why is it that no other group of fans get's a bad wrap for it? No one is saying oh it's the Megan/Sophia/Dani/Megan/Yoonchae fandoms attacking her and how toxic they are.

Why is it assumed that toxic posts against the other members are from fans of Manon? Unfortunately, as one member rises in popularity some fans of the other members will release negative posts to bring that image down. It happens all the time. Not to mention people who don't like any of them and intentionally make toxic posts for giggles (and at times because they are fans of other groups).

Also... a side note/reality check about her talent.

A lot of you like to put her down because she isn't the top dancer/singer in the group. However, she's proven that she can keep up with them in choreo and can hold her own with singing as well (especially given their discography). In reality, you don't have to be the best vocalist to ever walk the earth or even the best dancer. You just have to find the right marketing and songs that fit your skill set. Britney Spears was a below average singer, Taylor was a below average singer as well but a good writer (though she's gotten better at singing).

She's proven that she's capable of anything if she puts her mind to it. No, she isn't the group. None of them are. They work(ed) because of the combination of what they all have to offer. If any one of them left the group, they could all keep performing the same music they've released because none of it is vocally challenging and they've all proven they can do the choreo. Dani's presence is probably the only one that'll be slightly missed because the company has centered so much of their different choreo around her dance breaks. That said she (Manon) is part of the reason they became so successful and if she's been kicked out, she does have the potential to be successful in whatever path she chooses. Not to spite the girls, not to win out over the other girls, but to just keep pursuing her dreams (new or old).

side side note... to the Manon fans out there who are saying things like "she is the group" or they're nothing without her... please stop. I mean the actual fans not the people pretending just for the drama. You aren't helping. It just makes the fans of other girls feel the need to put her down and/or get defensive. It's kind of hard not to feel slightly offended if you're a fan of all 6 or one of the other 5 and people are pushing the narrative that the members you like don't mean anything. Although Manon is the reason I tuned into this whole thing, I can acknowledge the hard work and contributions of the other girls as well.
