
Traded in 2019 Lariat Sport with cam phaser and trans issues.
Noticed the cam phaser rattle about 8 months ago at about 90000 miles. Then came the hard shift to 3rd and 9th occasionally. Read up on repair costs and decided to just trade it in and let them deal with it. Overall the truck was in good shape. Aside from a nickel sized chip in the windshield and needing new tires. I figured the cost to repair everything was just dumb and I’d still be at 90k plus miles. I started shopping around about 3 months ago online at nearby dealerships.. Found a Black 2023 Powerboost Limited for 51K with 27K miles on it.
Changed the oil on my 2019 “lessened the rattle at start up” and put it in eco mode “ lowered the chance of hard shift when driving”…. Went to the dealership and traded the pos in. Ended up getting 35k for the trade that I owed 7k on. Put down 10k on top of my trade. 405. A month now vs 510. I was paying on the 19.
Was I wrong for sticking it to the dealership? Or just smart? lol It’s been 3months and I haven’t heard anything from the dealership..
