Is Mrs White a boy?

I decided to look at some footage on my laptop instead of the small screen on the trail camera. I think this is who I call Mrs White.

However it may be that Mrs is a Mr? Can anyone with more hedgehog experience give their opinion?

Poor Smudge!

Last night we were sat waiting for Mrs White and Smudge to appear.

Mrs White arrived on time, and went into the box for food. Then a hog arrived that I didn't recognise. It went in the box as well. Then Smudge arrived.

Smudge is the hog on the right. I have named the other one 'Bully'. I think Smudge is a bit of a softie because he (still not sure, but I call him a he) lets Mrs White be the boss, but not as much as this.

It was so hard sitting there not being able to intervene. I felt so sorry for Smudge. I just wanted to pick him up and give him a cuddle 💔

Introducing...

.... Mrs White and Smudge 😃

Mrs White (the smaller, lighter one on the right) has been coming out for her food every night at about 10pm. She stays for about 20 -30 minutes usually, stuffing her face.

The other one is Smudge (he has a lighter patch on one side). He has started to join her, usually in the feeding station.

Tonight they were out before we got the food in the station so we placed it on the grass, and after a minute or so they came over. There was a bit of huffing, and headbutting from Mrs White, but they managed to share for a little while.

Look at Smudge's hand on the bowl! So adorable.

Something amazing happened!

I was crouching down, setting up the camera next to the hedgehog highway that goes under our decking. A hedgehog came out, so I froze. It sniffed around my feet, then brushed against my hand as it passed.

It went back into the decking, then returned a couple of minutes later to sniff around me again!

I couldn't believe it, I couldn't stop smiling 😃

Five Hogs and a Love Triangle

Last night I went out at dusk to see if we would have a repeat of the previous night. I heard noises coming from next door, so I looked over the fence to see these three.

Then much to my surprise another came running over from the next garden up, to eat the cat food the neighbours had left our for their cat.

Then another one came from the opposite direction and went under the hedge to my right. So at one point I had 5 to watch!

I stayed out for about an hour before they seemed to go their separate ways. We shall see what happens tonight, if the rain stays away.

Wow they're noisy!

I sat out in the garden last night and was very happy to see three hedgehogs visit us. I filmed on my phone, and here is one where you can hear how loud they were!

After this interaction, one (who I have named Mr Huffington) went next door, and was still there when I went indoors over 30 minutes later. He (I've no idea if he is a he) was continuously making the noise even when alone under next door's garden bench.

We then had another smaller hedgehog join the original hedgehog under the bush and there was some snuffing noises but not for very long, and not as loud as in this video.

I really hope I see them again tonight.
