Hey all,
I recently moved to Anchorage and want to celebrate my birthday with a fishing trip. I thought about going to either Homer or Seward and was told Homer might be better. I don’t really have a specific fish I want to catch. Rock fish are cool. But I’ve never caught a halibut. Those two are about the only things I can catch right now, no? Anyways, was wondering if any of you have recommendations for full day fishing trips. I think it’d be cool to trip around a bit and hit a few different spots rather than target a specific area. Also, thinking about car camping to save money. Is there much public land in the area I can park at? Or would it better to find a private camp ground? Find someone who would let me sleep in their yard? For bears, just toss my food bag in a tree and cook away from my car? Fishing not on a boat? Lakes or beaches? Any tips/advice is welcome. Thanks!
