Top comment Deletes a US State #45

Here is the updated (Correct) map, crisis averted. I thought we had a riot on our hands!

I can finally relax now after all that drama! Anyway Colorado is now deleted as it should be. Just to make it clear, editing comments is fine if it’s the top as long as it doesn’t change the outcome of which state gets deleted like we had before. I thought that was common sense but clearly not to some people.

I just want to thank everyone for all the kind comments and support. I try to read as many of the comments as I can but each post has a minimum of 2000 so it’s pretty hard most the time. I have some big ideas for the finale so stay tuned.

Most importantly, spread the word as much as possible if your state is still in the game! Share, cross post to rally as much support for your state as possible. This is the endgame now!

there is chutzpah and then there is a sitting US Senator sending out a fundraising email (not to me) asking for donations to pay for gas b/c the war started by the President he supports is making it too expensive. Just completely and utterly shameless

If you were stranded in the wilderness of Alaska and you and you get to pick one sidekick are you picking a moose or a black bear?

And why?

The sidekick cannot hurt you.

landlord/tenant law

I moved out of a 3-roommate rental in Alaska on April 30. The lease runs through end of June. I had legal grounds to terminate early (long story, documented in writing) and the property manager verbally told me I could "move out whenever you want" on a recorded phone call.

The deposit was split three ways. My share was $900. At lease signing, one of my roommates wrote the full deposit check to the property manager and I Venmoed her my share the same day. So his records show her name on the check, but I have the Venmo receipt, and his own employee acknowledged my share out loud during the move-out walkthrough.

The 14-day deposit return deadline came and went with no refund and no itemized statement. Two hours after the deadline he emailed me a "lease amendment" that basically says if I sign, I get nothing back and I waive every other right I have against him. I would have to fight the tenant I paid for my deposit back basically. I haven't signed.

Today he started calling and texting. His position is: "I don't have your deposit. Your roommate has it. My records show all your payments went to the owner, not to me. Go settle with her." He also said his attorney told him "absolutely no liability at all," and that he is leaving town for two weeks.

  1. Can he actually get away with the "your roommate has the money" defense in Alaska? My understanding is that the deposit is held in trust between the landlord and the tenant, and one tenant's deposit can't be reassigned to the other roommates. But he keeps insisting it's between me and her. He should be liable for sending the deposit back to me.

Thanks for any input.

PFD 2026

I don’t understand the reasoning to continue to lower the people’s Dividend. Gas is making money, electric companies here are making money and not upgrading infrastructure. Biggest Bull market ever yet we’re told to pack sand, close schools, enjoy higher food & gas prices.

The same people in the finance commission, that are now touring Alaska and running for new positions, sold us out to private equity.

Are we not as smart & capable as Norway? As the LDS? They are not losing money, since 2017s rule change, it’s just been damned and diverted to other interests.

I personally have only ever received two responses back from our elected leaders. One of them was absolutely out of touch & gross.

I’d like if we went back to taking care of everyone here so we aren’t dependent on others. The food bank where I’m at is struggling. We still have displaced communities!

A couple of our representatives even have financial ties to Epstein.

WE need to make sure we’re voting real people in, who live amongst us. The Fund should be stronger than ever, that extra money should be enriching our Boroughs, I’d like to see my neighbors prospering again. I don’t want to pay suits for the privilege of their ‘expertise’. We are being robbed and paying them a bonus on top of it.

Where do I learn more about governor candidates? Is there a website that lists all the candidates and tells you about them/lets the candidate post an “about me”

I keep getting texts from Adam Grums people saying where he is and to come meet him, was wondering if there was a website with a comparison on all the people running?

Gov. Dunleavy vetoes public pension bill

Man that dude sucks. Vetos this when he can’t leverage it into giving away a gas line. Has a pension from the state of Alaska, but “naw, that won’t help with recruiting and retaining folks.” We get exactly the sort of state we deserve.

Harvesting fell trees.

Hi there. I moved out here to Houston from Anchorage about 2 years ago. Im right next to a lake and a good sized City owned park (forest that I walk my dog through daily). Now that the snow has melted, all of the tree casualties are showing. To my understanding, if I am wanting to cut trees for firewood, there's a designated area near Zero Lake. Buttt, if I am wanting to grab what's already down, what is the process I should take? Having already called matsu forestry, I was told to get in touch with the owner of the parcel (which is the City of Houston), but I had originally started with a phone call to them and got directed to Matsu Forestry. Im kind of stuck in a loop. Any ideas before I call Matsu forestry back next week?
