I never thought I would be posting here….

My partner 42M and I 44F have been together for almost 13 years (in July) and we are poly.

We are child free by choice and do not want that chaos in our lives, we have enough of our own.

Tonight he told me he had a date Tuesday night with a divorced woman who has two kids.

I. AM. FREAKING. OUT.

How can you not understand that dating a woman with kids is inviting children into our live lives. I tried to explain it and he just shut me down. I tried to explain that it’s not doable long-term. He didn’t care.

I am so upset. I don’t even know what to do. I can just see it now. “will you please help me and babysit?” Ohhhh god nooooooo.

Edit: OK I get that I overreacted. I was focusing too much on the fact that I want to be child free. And it looks like we are going to have some talks to work this out.

I want to sincerely thank everybody who responded with constructive criticism. It really helped.

To those of you who instead insulted the poly lifestyle, maybe you should open your eyes as well and be more supportive. Please do better.
