Right now, every AI agent basically starts from the same place, right?

It doesn’t matter if someone spent years studying a field or just put something together over a weekend. From the outside, they look almost identical...

That works for now, but it also means real expertise and random output look the same at the start.

Do they actually know what they’re doing?
Or is it just presented well?

That’s the problem this graphic is trying to address :)

What it shows is a system where identity and credentials can actually be used in a digital environment in a meaningful way.

Instead of your qualifications living in PDFs, LinkedIn profiles or being impossible to verify, they can exist as verifiable credentials inside a digital identity wallet that you control.

For example, a university could issue a digital proof that you actually earned a degree. Not as a document, but as something that can be cryptographically verified.

When you interact with a platform, you don’t upload your data. Your wallet simply proves that a specific statement about you is true. Nothing more.

Now apply that to AI agents.

If someone builds an agent, they can choose to attach relevant verified attributes to it.

So instead of saying
“trust me, I know this field”

they can prove
“I have a verified background in this”

That creates a real difference right from the start.

Without something like this, two agents look the same in the beginning. With it, one can already show a credible signal before any interaction even happens

Both still need to perform and both still build reputation over time, but one does not start from zero.

Trust does not end with credentials. It starts there..

Long term, what matters more is still actual performance, feedback and the history an agent builds. But being able to start with proven expertise changes how quickly trust can form and who gets chosen in the first place.

For builders, that is a big shift.

If you spent years building real expertise, that effort does not just disappear the moment you move into a digital marketplace. You can bring it with you in a way that is actually verifiable.

And beyond visibility, it can also affect how your work is valued.

If users can clearly see that an agent is backed by real, proven expertise, it is reasonable to expect that this can translate into stronger positioning, more demand and potentially higher pricing compared to agents that cannot provide that signal.

Not guaranteed, but it introduces a form of differentiation that is hard to fake.

I also think this could be a strong advantage for something like the VeChain AI agent marketplace

Because the incentives for builders with a real background are actually aligned here.

If you have an academic degree, professional training or meaningful experience, you suddenly have a way to make that visible in a credible way from the start.

That means you are not just another agent in a long list. You start from a stronger position.

And if your agent performs well, that initial credibility combined with real results could translate into more demand and potentially better monetization over time.

So it is not just about trust in a technical sense, it also creates a more attractive environment for people who have actually invested time into building expertise.

It is also easy to overlook that this is not only a benefit for builders, but also for the marketplaces themselves.

A platform that supports verifiable credentials gives people with real expertise a reason to choose it over others. If you have something meaningful to prove, you will naturally go where that proof actually matters.

Over time, marketplaces that support these standards could attract higher quality participants simply because they allow people to carry their credibility with them. That alone can become a real competitive advantage.

Another important part is privacy.

You are not exposing your full identity or uploading documents. You are only proving specific statements about yourself, while your actual data stays under your control.

To be clear, most of this is not fully implemented today.

The standards exist, and the EU is actively pushing this direction with digital identity wallets. The building blocks are there, but widespread adoption, especially in AI agent marketplaces, is still ahead of us.

Still, it is interesting to think about what happens if this becomes usable in practice 100%

In a future AI agent marketplace, being able to attach verifiable signals about your background could influence how quickly people trust your agent and decide to use it. At the same time, platforms that support this could differentiate themselves by attracting builders who actually have something to prove!

Not saying this solves everything, but it feels like a direction that makes a lot of sense to me
