The Big Move Approacheth!

Hi All!

Just a quick post for some optimism from a somewhat prior generation of waitees. I sent my application last February, was in the very last stages of Interim, and then C-3 passed. I was amongst the very first people approved under that (they ripped up all that work we had done towards the interim lol) in December. This place was a crutch and, by far, more helpful than any other resource on the internet, so again a huge thanks!

Anyway, as a quick update, the family and I have traveled to Canada twice since then, to a lovely town/neighborhood right next to Lake Ontario about 45 minutes from Toronto. On our second trip (it was my third trip, as I scouted it out myself first and reported back), we put down an offer on a house, and within a matter of hours we had negotiated back and forth a few times and went under contract! I had been pretty active on here leading up to all of this, but it's been so busy with this and other things I haven't had time to come back and share. We plan to move at the very beginning of August.

All in all, this has been about a 2-year process. I started to seriously consider this path around August 2024, put some thought into it, dug into records and took about 2 months finding appropriate documentation in Nova Scotia, and have traveled approximately 7 times since to locations in Nova Scotia and Ontario. As to the rest of the family, my two kids are obviously citizens by law, but they are still in process (Their AoRs are November 2025). My wife does not have descendance, but we are about 4-5 months into a Spousal Sponsorship and the process seems to be moving at a decent pace (we applied as "outside Canada").

For the first 18 months or so of these two years, I constantly weighed conflicting feelings, but probably around December of January or so after visiting this area for the first time late last year I personally just flipped the switch mentally. That and other stuff that just had me DONE and wanting to let me kids see a different side of humanity, if you catch my drift...Then, after I visited with the family and they really liked it, I started to honestly get pretty excited. The process of moving itself obviously sucks, but it's not anything I haven't done before (outside of the border crossing stuff) and the process will go quickly enough once it starts. We were also fortunate enough to get a home we're excited about.

I'll make sure to stop in and update the experience, but I did want to at least provide an example of someone who went through a decent wait and is now coming through on the other side and actually making the move.

Good luck to all in the process! I might be done personally, but as I mentioned above, the rest of my family is right there with you.
