Comedy Rec - The WonderFools on Netflix!!

Has been really long since I felt like making a post for a Kdrama. But man, WonderFools deserves it!!

I am only 4 episodes in but It's fun, humorous and is constantly hitting you with slapstick comedy! It sort of succeeded where 'Cashero' failed.

The entire cast is just amazing, especially the FL - very dynamic acting! And for a surprise, I am seeing variety of expressions from cha eun woo! He is also serving really good visuals in white tank tops, and cigarettes ( although I am finding it morally debatable considering his tax scandal 😭).

Overall, I feel it's worth giving a short!! Hopefully it ends well too!

Bertha and the Remaining Russells

I feel Bertha is really under appreciated for all she does for the Russells. I understand she is hard headed, a little stubborn, and firm in her ways. But she is also very smart, capable, and often saving the members of the family from places and wormholes they would probably go down if left on their own. If i has to on a one to one basis -

  1. Larry - For all the critic, taunts and jibes he has thrown at his mother through all seasons, he fails to see that he himself is at the liberty to do whatever he wants, basically fluff around all cause of dad's money and mother who has built a place for them in society. His affair in S2 might have seen fun initially but with age he definitely wouldn't have liked it. Cause in simple words he likes life to be easy going free and fun>! ( take the brother visit on engagement day in s3)!<

  2. Then we have Gladys, who in the name of love marriage was never essentially analysing any of her prospects in a true sense of what they could offer once she was in society. She was young, and I do feel Bertha could have done better job of trying to show her things, but the her inherent bias against her own mother made her ignore Bertha when ultimately she only came to help in S3. Gladys was liked loved and eye of society cause her mother kept her that way. Her dresses became talk of town cause Bertha paid attention to it. I am not saying she shouldn't have had a choice but point is if left to her own devices, Gladys would have found it really difficult to adjust to being a side character if she ever married Billy.

  3. And lastly Mr. Russell - While a really good person who has supported Bertha throughout, the criticism of Bertha action in S3 makes it seem as if only Bertha benefitted from all of it. George benefitted too, in the business, in the culture, in popularity and in knowing people. And Bertha has always entertained George's guest to her fullest capacity. Yes, Bertha did take some decision without letting George know but so does George for so many things. >!He could have been honest about his ambitions and railroad plan rather than keeping it a secret. !<If Bertha supported him in s1 she would in S3. Somewhere he is projecting his stress to not be able to control business on Bertha, and also mixing the same with Gladys marriage.

I think it's really easy for all three to simply blame Bertha for all the things. But had Bertha sit silently and enjoyed money, none of them would have had elevated options, lifestyle or partner choices or even investors in a world and era that was always very classist.
