Here are some pictures from today behind the Bukoleon Palace in Istanbul. I was surprised by its size and how tall it was. Hopefully some day it will open as an open air museum. It has been behind scaffolding for some years now.
I am currently in Istanbul and would like some out of the box ideas for Byzantine visit points 🙂
It does not need to be big and splendid, I like to look for ruins and subtle layers of the city. My husband origins from Istanbul, so we have seen all the popular tourist sights and been walking around the city many times. We don't mind visiting the sights more than once, but we are not going back to Hagia Sofia or the Basilica Cistern.
