Location: San Francisco.

I worked at this non profit day care over 5 years ago. the other person i will mention worked here up until last year. i worked with them for 2 years. the ED and board knew what type of culture the institution was upholding which resulted in many teachers to quit and many teachers reported feeling psychologically unsafe and bullied. once HR representative left, the ED got a hold of all of the staff files and went through them. because it's a small school of 154 students, no one oversaw the ED. the institution got a lawyer who spoke to all teachers. i quit because i was experiencing severe mental impacts and health impacts. a town hall with families was held for teachers to express their grievances and the ED received extra coaching and support from the board. recently an old colleague is thinking of legal discourse for their suffering. they want a witness to testify and show all of the evidence. should i consult a lawyer as well? if i am a witness, do i need my own counsel or will the person's lawyer potentially exploit me for the other persons gain?
