Hayward is the latest California city considering a step back from data centers.
Councilmembers will consider a move to ban the development of new data centers in Hayward, City Manager Jennifer Ott said in a statement.
Zoey's human passed away with no known next of kin and the police who responded said we could either take her and find a home for her or she'd go to the shelter and likely get euthanized. We're in Hayward and have partnered with a local foster agency that posted her on Petfinder and I've put her on several Facebook adoption groups but no luck. I'm hoping someone in or near Hayward might want this enthusiastically friendly bundle of energy.
She's 34 lbs, around 4 years old, and likely some kind of terrier mix- DNA results should be available in the next week or so. Would probably do best as an only pet and while I've never seen her be aggressive toward humans in the several months we've had her, her energy level might be intimidating for younger kids. She'd excel as someone's running buddy, agility dog, or helper on a farm or ranch. Photos are from a nine mile hike on national forest land where dogs can be off leash under voice control and aside from having to scoop her up to get her out of the way of a mule train, she did really well! Spayed and up to date on shots. We aren't set up to have a third dog in the house but I couldn't stand the thought of such a sweetheart risking euthanasia. She understands basic commands but needs someone with more time to work with her than I have. She will love the heck out of whoever takes her in, so please help me find someone who wants an attentive little shadow like Zoey!
Hi everyone! I recently got a job in the area as a recent grad. I am looking for housing near public transit, where my budget is 1100 dollars a month. I would just like somewhere that is safe and clean, preferably female roommates(I am female)
I am super responsible and I am currently studying for medical school. Any leads would be super helpful!
Most people who followed $CYDY remember March 30, 2021. The FDA publicly stated that CytoDyn's claims about leronlimab were "misleading and not supported by the data", no benefit was shown in COVID-19 treatment trials. The stock dropped 25%+ that day.
What happened afterward was a class action lawsuit covering investors who held $CYDY between March 27, 2020 and March 30, 2022.
A $500,000 settlement has been reached and terms are now submitted to the court for approval.
Who qualifies?
Anyone who held $CYDY during the class period and suffered losses from the alleged misrepresentations about leronlimab's effectiveness for HIV and COVID-19.
Can I still apply?
Yes, you can submit your application now and it will be processed once claims filing officially opens after court approval.
If you were damaged by this don't forget to check your eligibility. GL!

The sleepy suburbs east of San Francisco have suddenly become the latest battleground in the ideological fight over the future of the Democratic Party.
Super PACs, including two with ties to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, have flooded the region with millions of dollars in advertising ahead of a special election on Tuesday to determine who will replace Eric Swalwell in Congress for the next few months.
In California’s 14th congressional district, Aisha Wahab, a progressive Democratic state senator, is facing off against Melissa Hernandez, a moderate Democrat who sits on the Bay Area Rapid Transit board. The two Democrats are vying to fill out the remainder of Mr. Swalwell’s term after he resigned abruptly in April amid allegations of sexual misconduct as he was running for California governor.
Ms. Wahab seemed to be the clear front-runner after she emerged from the June primary with 43 percent of the vote compared to 17 percent for Ms. Hernandez.
But the sudden influx of cash, not just from AIPAC but also from another super PAC created to counter the group, has turned the race into an unexpected brawl between the establishment and progressive wings of the Democratic Party. It comes just two weeks after Abdul El-Sayed, a progressive Democrat, narrowly won the Senate primary in Michigan in the face of AIPAC’s hefty support for his moderate opponent.
Neither Ms. Wahab nor Ms. Hernandez has made Middle East politics a focus of their campaigns.
But in recent weeks Ms. Wahab has found herself fending off $2.9 million in attacks from outside groups, much of it coming from the United Democracy Project, AIPAC’s main super PAC. The group has also spent more than $825,000 supporting Ms. Hernandez.
Ms. Wahab, 39, is the first Afghan American and Muslim elected to the California State Senate. During a candidate forum in April, Ms. Wahab said “yes” when a moderator asked if she considered “what is happening to the Palestinian people a genocide.”
Ms. Hernandez, 51, responded by saying that she believed Israel had the right to defend itself after the Hamas attacks on Oct. 7, 2023. “However,” she said, “the destruction in Gaza has gone too far.”
Like the candidates, the super PACs have not focused on Israel in their advertising in the race.
Instead, one ad funded by the AIPAC super PAC accused Ms. Wahab of watering down legislation that sought to stiffen penalties against child sex predators. Ms. Wahab responded that she had helped make it “illegal and a felony to traffic or solicit minors.”\
Another super PAC called Bold America, which has received some funding from AIPAC’s group, has spent $2.4 million supporting Ms. Hernandez and opposing Ms. Wahab.
Patrick Dorton, a spokesman for AIPAC’s super PAC, did not return a call seeking comment.
American Priorities, a super PAC created to counter pro-Israel spending, put $200,000 into supporting Ms. Wahab. “Don’t buy the Republican AIPAC lies,” says an ad from the group, which has backed left-wing critics of Israel in congressional primaries in New York. Ms. Wahab has also received support from J Street Action Fund, a liberal Jewish organization.
AIPAC has become such a polarizing player in Democratic politics that drawing attention to its spending in the race could help Ms. Wahab in her heavily Democratic district in Northern California, said Noah Finneburgh, a Democratic political consultant in the East Bay who is not involved with either candidate.
“I definitely think that those attacks could backfire,” he said.
In total, groups have spent $4.9 million on television and digital advertising in the run-up to Tuesday’s special election, according to the ad tracking firm AdImpact. Even more has been spent on mailers, text messages and phone calls, campaign finance disclosures show.
The two candidates did not return calls seeking interviews.
Both candidates have filed complaints with the Federal Election Commission. Ms. Wahab has asked regulators to investigate a rash of social media posts that she claimed made false statements about her and may have been spread by fake bot accounts. Ms. Hernandez alleged that Ms. Wahab unlawfully transferred money from her state-level campaign account through a county Democratic committee to hide corporate donations.
Ms. Wahab was endorsed by the California Democratic Party and has support from several labor unions and Our Revolution, the left-wing group founded by Senator Bernie Sanders. The group, with which Mr. Sanders is no longer involved, said it planned to fan out across the East Bay this weekend to support Ms. Wahab.
Both candidates have emphasized a desire to work in Washington on lowering costs for Americans. Ms. Wahab has said she wants to “end pointless wars” that cost tax dollars and drive up consumer prices. Ms. Hernandez has said she would prioritize small businesses and pledged to bring “fiscal discipline” to Washington.
The winner of Tuesday’s election will serve the remainder of Mr. Swalwell’s term, which ends in January. Ms. Wahab and Ms. Hernandez will face off again in November for the two-year term that begins that same month.
One of my Co-workers dog is missing. She was last seen in Hayward off of Hesperian heading towards Union City. Hayward and Fremont Animal Control have been notified. If anyone has any information please contact the my coworker
Hi i’m wondering if anyone knows of any open to the public tracks to run on. In Hayward or any other city nearby. Thank you
edit: and is it open on weekends?
Let me first set some context.
Rakhi Israni and her connections to MAGA and right-wing Hindu supremacist organizations are probably old news now that she is not in the run-off. However, her candidacy was an eye-opener, which demanded my unofficial scrutiny of all local politicians of Indian origin in the East Bay area.
That led me to Mayor Raj Salwan, the mayor of Fremont. It also led me to Melissa Hernandez, the CA-14 candidate for the congressional special election in Aug 2026 and the general election in Nov 2026.
Firstly, this is not me being racist. This is me being apprehensive of the Modi cult - the Indian MAGA - seeping deeper into the Bay Area politics, especially the East Bay. Some of the characteristics of the Modi cult are as follows:
Mayor Raj Salwan is one such right-leaning politician. Salwan is a wealthy landlord and a vet who, as mayor, recently proposed extending term limits and salaries of city officials through a charter city proposal. In 2019, when Raj Salwan was a vice mayor, he attended a BJP-oriented event, Namo Sangam. The article in Indicanews quotes:
https://indicanews.com/bjp-supporters-pitch-for-modi-in-california/
"Dr Raj Salwan, vice mayor of Fremont and another Modi supporter, said that he is very happy that at long last India has got Modi as a prime minister. Salwan said Modi had conviction, courage, and the will to execute things well."
Narendra Modi has been globally condemned for unofficially sanctioning brutal communal violence against Muslim, Christian, and Sikh minorities in India long before he became the Prime Minister. Ever since Modi assumed office - 12 years ago - religious hate and violence have reached dangerous levels, and India's economy has been handed over to 2 billionaire families.
For the then Vice Mayor Raj Salwan to uphold a leader like Modi in heroic rhetoric gives us a hint into his political ideology.
Raj Salwan is also endorsed by the Hindu American PAC - a PAC that aims to influence U.S. policy in the interests of Hindu Americans. Guess who else is endorsed by this PAC?
Melissa Hernandez.
By now, the entire country knows that Melissa Hernandez is heavily funded by AIPAC for her congressional race. She is also endorsed by Rakhi Israni, a Laura-Loomer-Modi-MAGA disguised as a Democrat. Now, Melissa is endorsed by the Hindu American PAC. So we have a pro-Israel, pro-Modi, MAGA in CA-14 congressional race.
What does this mean for Fremont and for the East Bay?
An increase in policy control by the Modi-RSS-inspired right-wing Indian Americans will take us down the cliffs we have just begun to climb - MAGA, AIPAC, alt-right, Super PACs, xenophobia, America-First, and endless wars. Add corruption to this combination, like the charter city proposal, and Fremont won't be as we know it today.

Reporter Kyle Martin writes that the South Hayward Parish Food Pantry will close after more than 50 years. It originally served homeless residents as the Westminster Hills Community Outreacher Center nearly 50 years ago, and since 2019, it has served more than 43,000 people when the church moved to a new building, Hallie Hottle, senior pastor for First Presbyterian Church of Hayward, said.
She also explained the reason for its closure.
I’ve been applying a lot and calling and even going in person but I never hear back does anyone know any places that’s urgently hiring atm I appreciate it
Definitely worth subscribing to if you're a resident.
Hi, just wanted to get a taste of what to expect in the Hayward vicinity as I’ll be doing a business trip here in Sept. I kinda want to visit Silicone Valley, Disney Museum, Golden Gate Park, and Nintendo store.
Is there anything I should be aware of, anything else exciting to do, any restaurants I should try out? Are there Robotaxis I could taxi in? I’ve been to California before, just never the northern area. Thanks ahead of time!
Does anyone know the reason? my nosey ass went straight to news sites/police columns but couldn’t find anything.
It was like 15-20 cop cars & firetruck & ambulance; by the time I got out (6pmish) I only saw one person on the curb (possibly handcuffed).
It couldn’t possibly be for a simple disturbance on BART right? I wouldve asked but I was in a rush to get home 😭
