Ranted at driver but feeling bad

Cycling yesterday, perfectly safely and legally on a rotary junction that is functionally a roundabout. A car came onto the junction at speed, using his horn rather than giving way to me. He then wanted to change lanes so we came to a stop next to each other. I started sweary ranting, he told me to fuck off and shot off.

I knew he'd get snarled in traffic so I caught up with him and continued my rant, which was sweary but very clearly objecting to him not giving way. He was then super nice, apologised, shook my hand and wished me a safe journey. I apologised for my language.

Today I feel bad, I think I over-reacted. He did use the horn to alert me to his presence, which is legit. I'd rather he would have given way, but I think I came across as a madman in our subsequent interaction.

What's the best thing to do in these situations?

Advice ahead of tournament

I'm a relatively new player with maybe twelve games under my belt. I've played all sorts of armies but have recently been playing my developing Khemri army. The buddy I play with is super-knowledgable and not particularly competitive.

I'm going to be playing in a tournament soon, with actual tournament rules against actual other people. I'm under no illusion as to my chances of success, but what should I do/learn/practice beforehand in order that I and my opponents can enjoy it the most?

When can chase an academic

I tried this on another sub and the reaction wasn't good, so I apologise in advance if this is not a welcome question.

I am interested in doing a graduate certificate at Birkbeck. I would want to do the dissertation option rather than the taught option. In order to do that, I need to know that someone there can supervise my dissertation of choice.

I attended the open evening and was told by two members of the department to email the academic who is the course director and ask. I did that and haven't heard anything back. It's been a couple of weeks.

At what point (if at all) is it acceptable to email and chase? I'm aware that I'm relying on this person's goodwill.

Thank you.

No response from Birkbeck

I would like to do a Masters degree after thirty years of working and it seems the best way is to first do a postgraduate Certificate/Diploma with a dissertation as a way to establish credentials for the study involved at Masters level. In order to do the dissertation option, I would need a supervisor who can support the area I wish to study.

I attended the open evening at Birkbeck and spoke to the staff from the relevant department. They said to email the course director and ask. I did that two weeks ago, a short email asking a specific question, and have heard nothing at all. I don't want to annoy the person who can decide whether to admit me or not, but I would need an answer before deciding whether to apply.

Any advice, please?

I'm in my 50s and graduated from university over thirty years ago. I now have the option to do some study and have been very focused on a subject. I have read widely from academic reading lists on the subject, taken a lot of notes and have written some longer pieces. I'm now interested in doing a masters degree in the subject.

I meet the entry requirements, legal status etc of the masters I would like to do, but it's quite competitive to get into and they need two academic referees. I don't know how to do this.

One option would be to do a diploma in the subject (which is different from my undergraduate degree) just to get academic referees, but that's a very slow and expensive way to achieve this. Please, are there other ways? Shorter courses? Other projects?
