Housebound - How to Keep Your Sanity

Previously my tendons and neuropathy recovered to a point of: able to cook, clean, move freely at home, and direct Uber to appointments and restaurants (door to door).

Recent new symptoms have left me housebound and unable to walk. Live in high-rise apartment, need assistance to leave. Can't use self propelling wheelchair as one shoulder not fully recovered. Sitting all day either in sofa or bed. Nearly considering electric wheelchair.

What hobbies or past-times helped keep you sane?

Lumbar Puncture - Urgent Insight Needed

Any experiences with lumbar puncture? Concerns for anesthesia - lidocaine + epinephrine?

6 months flox, had recent relapse. Sudden severe neuropathy, lack of coordination and leg weakness.

Today doctor sent me directly to ER for neurology admission. He's aware of my Cipro history. He mentioned differential diagnoses and possible lumbar puncture. I'm nervous if attending neurologist suggests it... there are known rare risks. And we all know how rare isn't always rare.

Severe relapse or worth going to ER?

6 months post-flox. Plateaued for past while, with mostly hamstring tendinopathy limiting walking to 5 min max. Initial months of neuropathy and leg weakness were mostly gone. Could go out in wheelchair.

2 weeks ago, I over-did walking - tendons flared up bad. Prioritized rest. No weakness, just pain.

1 week ago, I woke up and couldn't walk to bathroom. Severe weakness and neuropathy in both legs. Can walk max 5 steps before legs feel like collapsing. Also feeling dizzy, dazed and winded. Mostly bed bound.

This is very sudden. Only changes were magnesium supplement... and few days of nutritional yeast (which was ultrafortified at 200-500% DV of various B vitamins). My best guess is B6 neurotoxicity?

Anyone have severe uncharacteristic relapse? Really debating going to ER. But they've never been helpful. But barely hanging on right now.

Request MRI? Sudden relapse, cannot weight-bear

History: Almost 6 months post-flox. Partially recovered shoulder/biceps with physio. Persistent severe hamstring tendinopathy, and neuropathy in calves and feet.

2 weeks ago I was able to walk 5 minutes using a walker. I pushed too hard, and flared up bilateral distal hamstrings. Prioritized rest. Past couple days, sudden tearing pain in tendons with any form of weightbearing.

Crawled from bathroom to bed. Would you go to urgent care and request MRI?

Concerned for possible tendon fraying. Is 6 months out more likely to show pathology in your experience? Apprehensive of another "normal" test, and navigating doctors' disbelief.

Migraines and Odor-Chemical Sensitivities

Has anyone noticed increased sensitivity to smells post-flox?

Even before, I would get headaches from flowers, air refreshners, and cleaning detergents.

Post-flox, the sensitivity is much worse. Migraines for days, nausea and no appetite. End up bed-bound on top of house-bound (from severe tendinopathy).
