AITA for having animosity towards my bfs parents
A year and a half ago, I brought home a stray puppy that had been severely abused, with permission from my bfs parents. I told them it was 100% a Great Dane mix and that a coworker was willing to take him if that was too much. They argued that it was a pitbull (it wasn’t). The plan was to find him a home, which was fine, they didn’t want anymore dogs, no bigs dogs and no messy house.
During the week that we had him, my bfs parents were being so weird about it. Making weirdo, passive aggressive comments towards us about the puppy. I would get home from work and bring him into my room to nap for 2 hours and they would come in without me knowing and take him outside with them (literally fine), but when I would try to go back out and get him to either feed, take him on a walk or just to spend time with him, they told me no. (Whatever)
we gave him a name because why not? And they would constantly rename him. (Weird, but ok)
Then, on day 6, told us we could keep him if, 1) we clean up the entire yard (2 months worth of shit they hadn’t kept up on) 2) buy food for all of the dogs 3) they wouldn’t be watching him. (Cool, awesome) so we did that. No “thank you” for any of it, btw.
Anyway, the next day, they gave the puppy away while I was at work. (Sad, but that was the original plan so 🤷🏻♀️) when I came home I wanted to talk to them about it, but they completely avoided me? They did this for the next 2 months after. Literally wouldn’t talk to me. I finally just let it go because wtf? They never apologized or even mentioned it at all.
THEN, 2 1/2 months after the dog is gone, THEY GET A NEW DOG. Not only did they get a new dog after telling us all that shit about “no more dogs, no messy house” this dog is constantly shitting/pissing/throwing up everywhere, all day long. (Literally)
Anyway, FLASH FORWARD to yesterday, they got ANOTHER NEW PUPPY. A German Shepard/Husky mix? Today, I tried to play with the puppy and my bfs dad put a leash on him and kept him on the couch with him for 4 hours.
Y’all am I crazy because that’s weirdo behavior, right? So is it “no more dogs” or is it that WE can’t have a dog. I’m going mental trying to figure wtf and why???? I’ve just been ignoring all the weirdo comments for a year and a half and not really making an effort to associate with them anymore. I feel bad, but like, why should I if this is how I’m going to be treated? I would really love advice on this because as pissy as I am about this, it shouldn’t be this important 😭
Edit: the main reason we haven’t even thought about moving out is because they told us they needed extra help ($800 in rent). also, California is expensive. I’m now realizing we are just a rent check, soo thanks yall
