Buying a car for my job
I completely paid off my student loan and became debt free on new years! I have saved about 7k in my emergency fund right now (very close to 3 months of expenses)
I work inside sales for a distribution company and net about 3.7k/mo. I was offered a promotion today to move into outside sales. To do that I need a car that is 5 years old or newer to get non-taxed mileage reimbursement. My current vehicle is a 04 f150 with 250k miles no ac and a timing chain that is hanging on for dear life. The job comes with a stipend of about 500/month plus .21/mi. I will be driving about 1700 mi/month and will have to cover gas and insurance. I’m not sure exact numbers on my base or commission numbers yet, but was told it should be an increase of 12-15k/yr (I assume gross)
Any advice on what to buy/budget?
