Sorry if I'm spamming these guys, but Sergeant is done now. I really like the sergeant shield as it fits the sweet spot between the big tower shield and the smaller square combat shield.
Finally got the first shield painted up. Next up is finishing the Sergeant. As always feel free to follow on IG (lil_bitz_miniatures) for more ST goodness as well as pther projects.
3rd Bladeguard of the squad. Just picked up the Vangaurd Vets box, so I should be able to finish the shields and soon the squad will be done.
This guy is pretty much done. He just needs his shield. My plan is to put the Vangaurd Veteran shields on them, as I find the tower shields to be too bulky.
While working on my Bladeguard I've had to fix something that continues to bother me about them. That is the Heavy Bolt Pistols they're equipped with. I've hated how they looked since I first saw them as I thought they just look too big and bulky to be pistols, and I especially hate them when they're holstered as they take up so much visual space on the model. So I had to cut them off and grind and carve away the plastic. This left a bit of dead space where this giant brick used to be so I filled it in with a little lantern from the Sword Brethen kit. While I was at it, I wanted to bring these old pushfit "cookie cutter" Bladeguard more in line with how the newer Veteran designs harken back to the firstborn with various differences in their armor details. So I carved the little skull out of the center of the wings and sculpted a little tiny sword and lightning bolts because, Silver Templars 😁
Space Marines looking like they're going to become more of an elite army has inspired me to go even further and focus solely on the 1st company. Bladeguard seem like the best option to start on since it fits their lore the most.
