Gotoubun no Depression
Hey guys
Spoilers if you haven't watched*
Rant/Vent*
I don't know if anyone feels the same but recently I've been seing a lot of tiktoks and reels on gotoubun and decided to rewatch it again after 4 years (albeit I didn't understand the story much at the time - alexithymia.) But holy s, the depression after choosing Yotsuba over the other quints f - ing killed me. I honestly don't really care about who wins (although preferably Miku, Nino, or Eatsuki) but seeing the quints cry made me feel like a void open in my chest.
I've been looking through old reddit posts about the ending, however most talk about how people were upset about the execution or how it should have been a different quint , but very rarely was it about how the other sisters felt at that time and after. I know that this is just fiction and that I shouldn't feel so bad for characters in a fictional work. BUT I just can't stop thinking about how the other quints felt in that moment and after, I know that they all find their own happiness through their passions, but having to move on from someone you used to love must have been really difficult and lingering feelings probably persisted for a long time. Maybe this was what Negi wanted to portray to the audience but man this kills me more than Fujimoto's choice with Reze.
I genuinely hope Fuutaro could just perform Mitosis and become 5 of himself or like have a severe form of Bipolar disorder where it was more like pentolar disorder but the personalities are similar just with a different quint (5 personalities) or a Marvel universe multiverse type thing happens. Genuinely I hope there is a Islam Multiple Wives Arc🥲.
After rewarching Gotoubun last week I have procceeded to rewatch every season and episode + movie 3 times and full completed the Gotoubun visual novels. BUT this feeling is still not going away. I guess i'll need to start re reading stoicist books or something to cope.
