Club Engagements

I’m curious to hear what your club does outside of home matches and merchandise to engage the community and build their brand? (This is not “which club is the best?” But rather “who is doing what?”)

Here’s some examples for KC:
Watch parties of away matches at the stadium
Youth camps
Adult rec league
Player appearances
Civic support (United Way, no cost/low cost soccer programs in underfunded neighborhoods)
Launching a podcast/media studio at the stadium
Free concerts outside the stadium
Many billboards throughout downtown
Our free-use public transportation is wrapped with the players and shield

Watch Party - Sign a Flag for Temwa

By luck of the stars, I’m attending the WAFCON final on Sunday night! I’m planning to take a KC Current flag and I thought it would be really neat to have Current fans sign the flag with their well wishes for Temwa, which I would take to the game.

I will be at tomorrow night’s watch party (probably just the first half) at the Current Landing. if you’re there, please sign my flag!!

Struggling to Buy WAFCON tix through Webook

I’ve been trying to purchase tickets for the final on Sunday and the Webook site doesn’t show any availability and keeps crashing. I’m trying to book from the US (will be there for work next week). I know this is a slight chance, but has anyone successfully purchased tickets to WAFCON and can share some guidance?

I’ve been trying for over 3 hours!

TEMWA IS GOING TO BRAZIL! Malawi qualifies for the 2027 Women’s World Cup!

Temwa with a goal and an assist in today’s QF win over Ghana!

This is the first time any team from Malawi has qualified for the World Cup and they do so as the 153rd ranked team in the women’s game. I’m so so happy for our TC6!

An exciting day for NWSL + WAFCON

Today’s group C matchups feature 7 of our NWSL players, with so many different scenarios for who will move on. Many assumed it would be Zambia & Nigeria but Malawi currently sits atop the group. All 3 of these teams need a win to ensure they move on. The only team to favor a draw would be Malawi (unless both games end in a draw-highly unlikely with Nigeria taking on Egypt).

Let’s discuss: chime in with scenarios, predictions, hopes, etc.

Defensive Adjustment

Okay, Rouse, Sharples and EBY all listed as out tomorrow. How do we contain ACFC? I’m assuming Scott gets the start at RB.

Edit to add: Lorena too

Denver Summit Road Game

Who is traveling for this week’s game in Denver? Is there a pre-match meetup for Current fans?

WAFCON Final Location

I’m having a hard time finding information on kickoff time and location (within Morocco) for the WAFCON final in August. I’ll be in Casablanca that day, and would 100% attend if it works out. To that end-any insights on where to purchase tickets?

WAFCON Impacts

Assuming all are healthy and are selected by their nations teams, which NWSL team will be most impacted by WAFCON absences in July-August? Current struggled without Chawinga early in the season, and Banda is proving crucial for Orlando in the attack. Kundananji and Kouassi are key pieces of their team attack, as well. Plus, there are others who are impactful to teams (TRAORÉ, Alozie, Chilufya, Gift Monday, among others).

I would love some community thoughts on which NWSL will impacted most significantly based on: likelihood to go to WAFCON, length of player absence due to tournament run, dependency of NWSL team on player(s), strength of NWSL schedule during absence, etc.

Cooking’ Again?

Every day I wake up and hope it’s the day the Current have announced that they’re removing Alana Cook from SEI. But alas, it turns out that MCL&ACL recovery takes time.

My question for discussion: do you think she could return before end of season? and if she does, how will the team handle a crowded CB “room”?
