Hold Y (or Triangle on PS I assume) to leave party. Please remove it from the main screen and put it in the menu that you access when you press start. If you are unwilling to move it for whatever reason then you must have a "Are you sure?" prompt that you have to confirm that you want to leave. Having it as a dual use button with Edit Hunter is madness.

When you edit your hunter the UI is not intuative. Selecting things like traits, consumables is painful and often just straight up refuses to work. Although not perfect I prefer the last iteration before the most recent change. I would recommend changing it back.
