My wife is on H4 EAD and received her renewed EAD card with a name mismatch (USCIS error, not ours). Per attorney’s advice, she showed the card to her current employer for I-9 reverification before surrendering it to USCIS for correction. USCIS has now marked the original card as “destroyed” but hasn’t issued a replacement in 2+ months.

She has a job offer coming and the new employer will need a fresh I-9 and she no longer has the physical card.

1. Has anyone navigated I-9 / E-Verify with a pending replacement EAD in this situation?
2. Will the I-797 approval notice + USCIS correspondence about the destroyed card be acceptable to any employers?

Any experience or advice appreciated. Already working with an attorney but looking for real-world experiences.
