How far into the game can you co-op? Or can you co-op right off the bat? (Once you've initially escaped TAP)

Are custom helmets cross platform?

I only ask as I was hoping someone could do me a custom helmet?

I'm on PS5, and I can imagine it's a lot easier to do all the layering etc on a pc
