CUET UG Biotechnology/Life Sciences Guidance Needed Urgently: UoH vs Shiv Nadar vs Shoolini vs BHU/DU + Please Tell Me What Colleges I Might Be Missing Before I Mess Up My Admissions

My qualifications: CUET UG PCB student currently preparing for biotechnology/life sciences admissions.

Hey everyone, I’m currently preparing for CUET UG 2026 and wanted some honest guidance from seniors regarding biotechnology/life sciences options because I genuinely feel like I might be missing many good universities simply due to lack of awareness.

My first preference is definitely the Integrated Biology/Biotechnology/Bioinformatics-related program at University of Hyderabad. I’m very interested in:

- biotechnology

- bioinformatics

- systems biology

- research

- higher studies/PhD abroad eventually

Realistically, based on my current preparation, I think my PCB aggregate may end up somewhere around 400 (out of 600) in CUET UG if things go decently.

Current universities/options I’m considering:

- University of Hyderabad (first preference)

- CUTN — Central University of Tamil Nadu

- Shiv Nadar University

- Shoolini University (BSc Biotechnology)

- BHU (Life Sciences/Biological Sciences)

- DU Life Sciences/Biological Sciences

- CUTN — Central University of Tamil Nadu

- Other central universities

But honestly, one of my biggest concerns is that I may not even know many good options yet, especially for biotechnology/life sciences/research-oriented careers. So I’d really appreciate if seniors could suggest universities/colleges I might be missing.

A few things that matter a lot to me:

- strong research culture

- good labs/faculty

- internships/research exposure

- biotech/bioinformatics opportunities

- foreign collaborations/tie-ups/MOUs

- exchange opportunities

- preparation for MSc/PhD abroad

Fees are not a major issue, so I’m prioritizing quality of ecosystem and opportunities over affordability right now.

Some questions:

  1. Around 400 PCB aggregate, what are realistic chances for UoH in later rounds/waitlist movement?

  2. Between Shiv Nadar and Shoolini, which one has the stronger long-term ecosystem for biotech/life sciences?

  3. Are there any underrated universities I should seriously consider?

  4. Which universities in India are actually strong for research-oriented biology/biotech pathways and foreign higher studies?

  5. How valuable are DU/BHU Life Sciences pathways if the long-term goal is MSc + PhD abroad?

  6. Which colleges genuinely have good foreign collaborations/MOUs that actually benefit undergraduate students?

Would really appreciate honest advice from current students/seniors because right now I’m trying to understand the ecosystem properly before counselling/application season starts. Thanks a lot!

I am going to be completely honest because I really do not know what I am doing anymore.

I have been preparing for NEET this whole time, like fully locked in.. Now I am giving CUET UG right after that and I feel like I have walked into something I do not understand at all.

I do not even properly understand how CUET works, like normalization and CBT and pattern and all of that. I have just heard bits and pieces. It is honestly embarrassing at this point. I feel like everyone else knows what they are doing except me.

My subjects are Physics and Chemistry and Biology and English.

Here is where I feel completely lost.

- How different is CUET level from level. Is it actually easier or just different in a way.

- Can I survive on preparation alone or am I already at a disadvantage.

- How much extra preparation is realistically needed after NEET considering I will be exhausted by then.

The biggest problem is English.

I need least 100 marks in English, which is the qualifying marks and I have not prepared for it at all. Not even a little. NEET did not require English. I ignored it completely and now I feel like that might cost me badly.

I do not know what topics to even start with whether it is grammar or vocabulary or reading comprehension or something else. I do not know how to prepare in such a time. I do not know what actually works versus what's a waste of time.

Also I am not giving GAT so that is one thing but still I feel like I am going in blind.

Now it genuinely feels like I have spent months climbing one mountain, which is NEET and now someone just dropped another one in front of me without warning.

If anyone has gone through the NEET, to CUET transition please tell me what I should actually do. Not general advice,. A real strategy.

Even small tips would help because now I feel like I am about to mess this up badly.

Thanks
