SHARE YOUR MEMORY WITH ME
I'm just curious, if you want to share. How, Where, When did you discover Counter-Strike? Do you still play? Did ever went pro? Had you had moment of being proud playing cs. Or unique story involving cs.
I can't believe the game I grew up with is still going and getting more popular everyday.
How I got into cs at the time, wasn't directly through CS but Valve (steam didn't exist yet) anyways I was over my mom's friend's house and he had computer setup but he was playing this WW2 game, got interested. Because it was an online shooter, the guns looked realistic, and smooth gameplay, this game was called Day of Defeat. I was 10 years old and got hooked instantly. A few days goes by, maybe a week?
Slowly Getting used to setup and all that. Having fun, you know. Then I see a game called, Counter-Strike. It was Mod. Not even a full game yet. Downloading this CS game with my 100kbps speeds. FYI lol. Finally get it installed, had cool menu and the console had loading screen to join the server, it very interesting at the time.
I think my first map was cs_assault and/or de_vegas or something like that. Fell in LOVE with 1.5. a year goes by maybe, and now Valve, creates Steam. When steam became introduced, it was bad as WoW and Diablo 4 on day 1. It was horrible lmao. But we got 1.6 with Steam and that changed everything. That's how I pretty much started CS back in the day.
Flash forward 24 years and it's even more popular. It's crazy to me. That millions of other enjoy this game as much as me if not more..here's to another 24years! By than I will quit playing fully. But I'm sure cs it will be there when I'm ready stop playing.
Have I ever went pro? No I'm above average at best. Been in a couple like cal-o, and I but that was long time ago...anyways hope you enjoy my story sorry about book worth of info.
TLDR: start playing 1.5 and I still play in cs2. Cause I think it's still the best at what it does. The king of online FPS.
