Picked my first stalks the other day

It has been 4-6 weeks since topping. Layers were progressively changing color so I decided it was time. They've been hanging since Wednesday. Another week or two and they should be done. I'll dry them and then wait to ferment until everything is harvested.

2 Florida Sumatra and 1 CT broadleaf.

25+ in the greenhouse.

These plants were fist size a month ago except for the tall one I topped a week ago. Longest leaf is 28" long.10 more planted outside a few weeks ago and 25+ more to go into the gardens in the next week.

Plan is to let these greenhouse ones start ripening and then I'll color cure them by tying them upside down, whole stalk.

The goal this year was to figure out how to grow the seedlings. Boy are they finicky with the water. My successful method ended up starting in seed trays then after 14 days moving them individually to 3 inch peat cups. That seemed to work the best.

Next step is to build a small smoke house to fire cure some. And then a fermentation container.

Any thoughts on how big the fermentation vessel should be with 70 plants?
