Google says vw caddy, but this looks more modern so maybe it’s modded?

Global triggered from spam call

Recently switched over from Google Fi and out on a trip right now. I have a local eSIM setup and data roaming turned off. I kept global pass enabled because I have an onward destination where my local eSIM will not cover.

I received a potential spam call while I was asleep. Did not pick up, didn’t even hear it ring. The caller left no voicemail and I was on WiFi the entire time. Nevertheless, this morning I got an email saying one of my complimentary global pass days have been used.

Contacted visible support, they said since it’s been used so there’s nothing they can do about it even if it was out of my control. When I asked about how to avoid this in the future, I was told to either disable global pass or turn off my number. I need the number on for WiFi calling/iMessage and visible themselves recommend to enable global pass before leaving the U.S. Which I need for my onward destination. Also hearing mixed opinion of whether WiFi calling will work with global pass disabled.

Just a bad experience compared to my previous carrier…

I have a friend who is currently on US Mobile. He’s been abroad for about 8 months and is going to be for the foreseeable future. I’ve read it’s common to numbers active for cheap with Tello.

I’ve seen mixed results on this sub about activating overseas. So in case it doesn’t work, would it be possible for me to activate the service in the U.S. for him and then he can redownload the eSIM overseas? He has an unlocked North American iPhone 17.

Thanks in advance.
