Need a routine review to ensure successful sleep training!

Hi there,

So my little dude is turning 16 weeks this week. His sleep has never been “great”, but it’s really gone off the rails with the current 4m regression.

We will be starting Ferber here shortly (as I’ve done with all my other kiddos). The only thing is that all my other kids have always started daycare at 3m, because that’s when I’ve returned to work in the past. So their nap schedule was out of my hands and I only had control of it on the weekends.

My current little guy doesn’t have a spot in daycare until the fall. So he has a part time nanny right now. When we do go to sleep train once he hits 16 weeks, I’m wanting to ensure that his wake windows are appropriate to ensure the most success (and that I’m not going to derail it by having a wonky schedule). We are on roughly a 1.5/2/2/2.5-2.75 schedule. Wake up time usually around 7am, and bedtime used to land around 6:30-7:15pm. This kiddo has been lower sleep needs though, and I feel like this schedule is off. We have frequent wakings throughout the night, early wake ups around 5:30 am, and he’s pissed off by any soothing attempts anymore (pacifier, bouncing, rocking, etc). Ideally I’d like a bedtime around 7-7:30pm and a wake up around 6am. But that may be unrealistic 🤷🏻‍♀️

Current schedule is early wake-up at 5:30, back to bed at 6’ish. Wake for the day at 7am. Nap at 8:30, 11:30, and 2pm (naps are 45 min long). He woke around 3pm and got super tired at 5:30pm. I figured it was too late in the day for another nap so we extended it out for a bedtime at 6pm.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you.
