The Mental Hurdle of the First $100k Car

I'm at a crossroads with my next car. I’ve reached a point where I can comfortably afford a M3 without impacting our lifestyle or future goals, but I’m still struggling to rationalize the purchase. It feels like a deserved reward, yet the price tag is hard to swallow after a lifetime of saving. For those who were hesitant to make their first six-figure car purchase, how did you get past the mental hurdle?

One factor pushing me toward the 'yes' is the M3’s impressive value retention. Compared to others in its class, the depreciation curve is much shallower. I’m starting to view it less as a $100k sunk cost and more as a high-end asset where I can recoup a significant portion of my capital if I ever decide to move on. How much did resale value play into your own rationalization?
