18 Years of memories.. Gone.
Woke up March 14th 2026 the day after my 34th birthday to two emails from Facebook within 3 minutes of each other. First, stating it was suspended, and I Could appeal. Then, the next saying they've reviewed my appeal and the decision was final.
In between those emails, I received one from my Instagram too, noting "suspicious activity".. Luckily (I guess) I was able to get back into my Instagram account using the verification process..
Then, following some suggestions on here, I signed up for a verified account on March 15th (it was on sale for 99 cents for the first month, what a deal.. ☠️)
Started a support case that same day (March 15th)...
Went through the hoops of dealing with multiple "people" with the same response being
"We've escalated this issue to a specialized support team who is looking into it."
This went on, throughout the rest of March, and April with me occasionally going in, and looking for an update... only to receive the same copy/paste response repeatedly.
Over this time, I was still able to "download my data" (which is fkn useless FYI)...
However, eventually.. Not sure when it happened, but my account had been completely removed... When trying to log in I get greeted with "There's not account associated with that email/phone number.."
I thought all hope was lost, and basically just sucked it up, and contiued on with my life... Then, I woke up this morning.. I received a response back from the Instagram support "person" saying they have a resolution to get me back into my account.. Just upload this identification video, and you should be all set... I finally thought I saw just a tiny glimmer of hope... So I rushed, and did just that.. I followed the link, took the video, and uploaded it...
"Please allow me 3-5 minutes to verify this video.."
...waited.
Within 5 minutes the response wasn't what I was expecting what-so-ever...
This account has been permanently deleted, and cannot be recovered. then instantaneously the support request was closed, marked as "completed", and I got sent to a survey.
18 years of my life, pictures, videos of deceased loved ones, endless conversations with those people on messenger... gone..
Something's got to be done... This is absolutely repulsive.
