ETERNAL periungual warts
Wart on my left thumb began when I was 11 or 12. Currently 51. It has migrated here and there around the nail, then grew a twin on my right thumb at some point.
I've done a lot lately (home-based): compound W: liquid and bandages with that dot of salicylic acid and lanolin; ACV (HOLY OW and warped the nail); baking soda and castor oil, tea tree oil, other antiviral essential oils; topical vitamin A; duct tape; debriding all throughout.
Not keen on freezing them b/c of fear of permanent damage to the nail bed.
Current protocol: soaking in supersaturated NaCl saline for 30 minutes, then a drop of tea tree on the wart until it soaks in, then rub 40% zinc oxide on the wart and wrap it in a bandage until 23 hours later or it falls off, whichever comes first. Debriding when possible. Also supplementing with zinc methionine sulfate (OptiZinc), a whopping 120 mg/day; it includes 1.2 mg copper to offset any copper deficiency. (Been taking various forms of high-dose zinc for about a year by now, so...maybe I need to back off the zinc a bit.)
Been at this for a week or two, and not much progress has happened. I'd like to keep at it, but want to make sure I'm not overlooking anything. Please feel free to affirm me if I'm on the right path; make friendly suggestions if I'm not.
Pic added b/c the wart is purty and shiny, evidence that I'm debriding it within reason.
