PPO vs CPP — when does each actually move the needle?

Indie dev here trying to figure out where to spend my limited App Store Connect effort for a mobile puzzle game. I get the textbook difference:

  • PPO (Product Page Optimization): A/B test up to 3 treatments against your default page, served to organic App Store traffic, results measured in ASC.
  • CPP (Custom Product Page): Up to 35 alternate pages with unique URLs, served to whoever clicks that URL (ads, social, influencer links, etc.).

What I can't get a clear read on from the docs:

  1. If you've run both — which one actually changed your conversion rate more, and on what kind of traffic?
  2. For a small game with a few thousand DAU and a modest paid social budget, is PPO worth the test-traffic split, or should I put 100% of the energy into CPPs per channel?
  3. Anyone seen PPO results that contradicted their CPP results (i.e., the "winner" on organic was the loser on paid)? Trying to understand if they're really measuring the same thing.

Not looking for "use both" — I've got time to set up one well.

Which one earned its keep for you?
