I was recently approved for a mental health claim after fighting for it since August of '23. Since I had pursued it continuously after the initial denial I was awarded backpay to the initial filing. I had initially filed for sleep apnea as well and was denied in the initial round and didn't pursue it further. I spoke with my VSO and they recommended a supplemental claim as a secondary to the mental health claim citing excessive weight gain and exposure to toxic compounds. If the claim is granted is my effective date for sleep apnea August of '23 or when this supplemental was filed. I can't find a clear answer since I was previously denied and it's been over a year. I didn't know if the mental health award would count for continuous pursuit or not. Sorry if it's a dumb question but it feels like an edge case and I can't seem to figure it out myself. I have a message into the VSO as well and I am sure they will get back to me eventually, they are just extremely busy so I thought I'd try to figure it out with help.
