What should my next credit card? Discover student Cards just isn't doing it anymore...
Hey everyone, I find my current Discover card to be no longer fitting my needs, and it rarely gets any rewards on it (Yes, I do the activations of rewards, but I will not change my spending to win the reward game like that, so it kinda doesn't do much for me)
Current cards:
- Discover Student card
- Capital One Quicksilver Student
Monthly spending is roughly:
- ~$2k/month on Discover mostly dining, DoorDash, entertainment, subscriptions, Amazon/store purchases, etc.
- ~$1.7k/month on Quicksilver, including rent, groceries, and clothes here and there
Able to pay it all off each month
750 credit score
I want to move toward a setup that gives:
- much better cashback
- better travel rewards/miles
- good international/travel benefits because I want to continue traveling/studying abroad
- I’m okay with annual fees if the value is actually worth it
One thing I’m unsure about is whether I should:
- upgrade one of my current cards
- keep old cards open and just stop using them much
- or fully replace one
Currently looking at stuff like Capital One Savor/SavorOne, Venture/Venture X, Chase Sapphire, Bilt, etc., but I’m honestly getting overwhelmed by all the ecosystems and optimization talk online.
Would appreciate any recommendations based on my actual spending profile.
