Problem with mlok & Harris bipods

Problem with mlok & Harris bipods

The tolerance on these is super tight when new. Such you you have to press them into place, which i appreciate. But after trying to use shorter screws, which DID work the first time I installed it. Because I have pictures showing it was properly installed.

But the second time, something happened where the mlok nut is not fully rotating 90• into place. It goes to like 80• and then it starts to “bite” and tighten. Once I felt it grip, I torqued it down into place. Then the screw started to spin. Little did I know it was not into place. It appears to have bit into the metal on the mounting plate, as well as the side of the slot on my upper. I removed the marred bulge on my upper with a file, but haven’t attempted anything on the bipod. I don’t know how to go about this, or whether something is out of spec. It definitely didn’t give me issues the first few times I mounted it until now.

Just to check, I tried a second Harris bipod that is also the mlok, and while it DID install, and fully rotate 90•, after removing, I see it also began to bite into the slots on the bipod, in the exact same location. Leading me to believe if I mount it again and again the same thing is going to happen until the bulge is so large the nut no longer rotates correctly.

has anyone ever had this problem or know what I should do?

Proper torque for rifle buffer tube?

I know a castle nut is 35-40 lb, but I am building a lower now with an A1 stock, and would like to know the official army manual information for torque on the rifle receiver extensions (as they call them). Can anyone confirm?

First time using ultrasonic cleaner fail (ar15 lpk). Any tips?

My process in the past had been using a toothbrush & dawn dish soap at about 115• water out of the kitchen sink. That works, but it’s labor intensive. I bought this intending to eliminate that.
Don’t know what I’m doing wrong, but it doesn’t seem to have done much of anything. There’s still a lot of carbon/soot caked on everything.

I did 5 minutes at roughly 115• F (52• C)
using dawn dish soap and water

Does it just need another cycle?
Increase water temp?
Different cleaning solution?

I’m stumped. I thought these things were super powerful.

Is it worth getting a stainless 16” 308 if I already have the same one in chrome lined?

I planned to put all my money for barrels towards 6.5cm, because I don’t have any of those, but seeing that deal on rooftop makes this hard to pass up.

Shop that can cut m16 pocket on MARS or FCD lower?

I am aware that several places offer this service to milspec lowers, but I am wanting to have it done on my MARS L. Does anyone know of a shop that can do this on a MARS?

Can someone lend their advice on choosing 1:8 vs 1:11.25?

I’m looking to get a precison barrel and the only difference between these is the twist rate. Are there certain bullets I can’t use with the 1:11? I don’t know much about .308

Price is very similar. What would you choose and why?

I prefer the elevation turrets to have 10 mils (per revolution) which I assumed was standard, but then purchased a newer 5-25 which came with a 12mil turret, even though my research said that they have 10 mils. So I guess some do and some don’t? I asked nightforce if they would change the turret for me and they said they can’t. I can still sell it but I just want to know which models to look for. I’m buying from EO, and they often don’t use different pictures for each model, so if you’re looking at a picture of a Milrad version, it’s clearly the photos taken from an MOA scope, of the same model, so I can’t see the actual turrets.

(First 2 pictures):
stripper upper- H&R blem gray
other one- H&R blem gray from a prior purchase

To your eyes, which is more accurate to 60s/70 colt gray?
(depicted in the following 3 pictures)

Reason I ask is because I have to choose ONE to send in as the example piece to have my lower matched to that shade.
