Problem with mlok & Harris bipods
The tolerance on these is super tight when new. Such you you have to press them into place, which i appreciate. But after trying to use shorter screws, which DID work the first time I installed it. Because I have pictures showing it was properly installed.
But the second time, something happened where the mlok nut is not fully rotating 90• into place. It goes to like 80• and then it starts to “bite” and tighten. Once I felt it grip, I torqued it down into place. Then the screw started to spin. Little did I know it was not into place. It appears to have bit into the metal on the mounting plate, as well as the side of the slot on my upper. I removed the marred bulge on my upper with a file, but haven’t attempted anything on the bipod. I don’t know how to go about this, or whether something is out of spec. It definitely didn’t give me issues the first few times I mounted it until now.
Just to check, I tried a second Harris bipod that is also the mlok, and while it DID install, and fully rotate 90•, after removing, I see it also began to bite into the slots on the bipod, in the exact same location. Leading me to believe if I mount it again and again the same thing is going to happen until the bulge is so large the nut no longer rotates correctly.
has anyone ever had this problem or know what I should do?
