Were there any early vertical grips besides the modified pistol grips and the KAC?

Been thinking about a vert grip for my retro and it got me wondering, were there any more obscure ones out there back before the KAC in 1995 (or a little after)? Especially curious if there was anything made for the plastic clamshell handguard vent holes like the homemade pistol grip ones.

Colt 723 Upper With No Markings?

Hi all, back with another obscure and niche question. I’ve come across a Colt 723 upper that’s I am looking to grab but a little confused as there are no C and forge marks on it. Where the Colt C and forge mark would typically be is just blank. The seller is reputable and claims that it is a Colt police trade in, but I’m skeptical because I can’t find any definitive answers on if Colt ever produced a C7/723 upper without markings. Any info out there on this?

50 Shades of Gray Colt anodizing.

I thought the contrast between the upper and lower that came in my Bowman parts kit does a good job of demonstrating the extremes of Grey Colt Anodizing that’s possible.

I don’t believe these parts came from Hartford together, as I’m pretty sure Bowman had separate piles they grabbed stuff from.

The grey on the upper is so light it almost looks like bare aluminum, it was not painted.

The lower was painted black, but I scrubbed all the paint off and the color underneath was close enough to black to make no difference.

At first I thought maybe dye from the paint had somehow bled into the anodizing, but the inside of the lower, and the parts that would have been covered by other parts, is the same as the outside.

Just an interesting sample of one.

Picture 3 Mike from H&R posted showing various shades that happen.

Picture 4 are some other different shades.

My recommendation is, if you want a matching upper and lower, best to buy a complete black rifle.

If you want a close grey match, buy a complete grey rifle, or learn how to do moly resin.

Camo taping the M16A1

Hey all, I was looking at camo taping my M16A1 and possibly my fiance's 606 as well, but I want it to be as close to the actual tape used during Vietnam as I can possibly get. Are there any suggestions on what kind I should use? I was considering green gaff tape but wasn't sure if it was the right shade of green or not.

Heat 2 movie is coming soon.

Wouldn’t it be interesting if DiCaprio’s weapon in HEAT 2 spawns an epic retro AR build like BLOOD DIAMOND?

I think Leo is a great pick for this. I hope they are smart enough to include an epic shootout. So many cool things came out of the first heat movie. Personally, I can’t wait.

I wonder if it’s going to be a prequel or sequel… and I truly hope we get something worth cloning out of it.

Also wonder if they’re going to expose Hanna’s coke habit, which they wrote out of the first movie after they started filming.

PB&J retro mod 😁

One of my favorite range toys. 723 ish with modern day furniture. Throw a red or purple Lancer mag in and you have yourself a PB&J build 😁

Hope you all had a safe 4th.

Does anyone know when the OCM6 is coming out?

I tried googling it, and it said that it's out already... That does not seem to be the case.

Unlocked the Origami attachment for my 733 Build

My 733 is my go to gun right now because 11.5 is my favorite length for my area. The farthest I can shoot at my range is 215 yds. Took a gamble and bought a generic folder from eBay. With the help of Larry Potterfield and monkey football fucking I was able to install this LAW style folder. I run a super safety in my 733 and was worried the bolt extension wouldn't function right but no issues. With the brace folded and no mag inserted I can fit the whole gun into a my duffle bag no prob. My SxS sidekick is even better now. The extra length from the folder is nice too for pulling on the angled grip.

Is the Colt 4x ever coming back?

Been waiting for months after getting the H&R m16 but it’s just been out of stock and on other sites it’s listed as no longer available. Would love to get my hands on one but haven’t seen them up second hand either :/
