I often play movies through my SVHS vcr on my flat screen, but sometimes I gotta come back to the old setup.

After hearing my dad talk about his love for 8-tracks for decades, I finally have bought one of my own. Second pic is the 1980 Magnavox combo player we use :)

First VCR in the US (for VHS anyway, Beta was already out). RCA VBT-200, from Oct. 1977. This guy is huge, 40 pounds, 2 heads, an absolutely cool piece of tech that’s just shy of 50 years old. This ol’ gal needs TLC and some capacitors but hopefully will be up again after that!

Found my grail. The first VCR available in the US, the RCA VBT-200. This one is from October 1977. Needs some capacitors that I think are shorting one of the fuses, so she won’t play at the moment. But hopefully soon! The belts are also in surprisingly good shape.

John Stamos vs Gene Simmons as a terrorist hermaphrodite? Well, that didn’t age well. One of the weirder movies I’ve heard about. The 80s sure didn’t give a damn about wacky plots, that’s for sure.

One of my late night eBay finds. What a weird movie, in a good way.

One of my favorite covers, the 80s and early 90s had some of my favorite slipcover artwork!

First show haul 😊

Went to the Day of the Dead Media swap in AL, went great, had fun, met lots of cool people!

Found a cool 2012 homage to 80s slashers at the swap meet.

Surprised to see so many at goodwill!

(Don’t know if these are any good, like 8-10 bucks a piece at Brainerd Goodwill in Tennessee if anyone needs em!)

Got some random DS games…. rattling in a thrifted VHS holder! My fiancee will appreciate these later on her DS! Probably the most random games I’ve ever found, surprised there were this many just sitting under the shelves in there.

First thrift stop of the day, found some bangers at a little over a buck a piece!

The rarest tape I own is the episode of my family and I on Jerry Springer, c. 2000. Far as I know, the only copies are with us. Any of you also former Springer guests?

Story time for those interested. My uncle (who was also my dad’s tag team wrestling partner here in the Southeast) was in two episodes, and got us on it. We flew down to Chicago, but filmed most of the “confrontations” down here. Totally fake, got paid decent money from what my dad says!

Saw another post about one of these cool Blockbuster blue shells, so figured I’d show mine. I think Hollywood Video had a white shell.

Nostalgia of the best kind :) I had this as a kid in the late 90s, what a fantastic cartoon.

Do you guys prefer epoxy or plastic weld? Trying to decide how to repair this loading gear. (For 1978 Magnavox)

It’s for a 1978 Magnavox 8220, so these things don’t exactly grow on trees. I’m aware of 3d printing but trying to see if this thing plays well before throwing more money at it (that and I don’t have a 3d printer, BUT I do have a soldering iron and epoxy!)

“More brains!”

Probably my favorite tape in my little collection.
