Recently I got a Hot Pink DSi that was in really clean condition that I was planning to give my sibling for their birthday, however when I got it I noticed the it didn't charge while it was on. So after trying different outlets and chargers, I came to the conclusion it was a bad charging port.
Now, I've never had to do a repair like this before, so I figured it would be easy enough, which it was honestly! I used my heatgun and on low blasted both sides until I could gently lift the old port off the board. I've been improving at soldering as well, so getting it on wasn't very difficult either. I was a bit concerned about if all 4 points were making contact with the board, but I feel as though since there now is a flashing orange light, they should be! Given I could be wrong, which is why I'm here!
As seen in the video when plugged in it flashes orange. After doing some light browsing, the general consensus for that problem is that it has something to do with the battery/charging. The battery is in great condition, so I don't think it's that. I also tried other batteries as well. I was wondering if it could be from all 4 port points not touching the pads properly? I'm not sure.
The other problem could be something relating to the F1 fuse, which requires a multimeter which at the moment I don't have to test. I'm not sure what to do relating to getting the fuse operational anyways since this is my first experience with it.
TD;LR - Orange flashing w/ no boot after charging port repair. Any advice would help out alot! Thank you everyone in advance for taking the time to look!
Here is my ds lite. Top screen broke during the process but it's all good now and I love it.
Just picked this up for my son with games. The New Super Mario is our favorite so far. Really good 2D reminiscent of the original. Great take on the old school playability and format.
Anyone have any other games to recommend that are must haves?
Never opened brand new New 3DS pokemon edition. Traded in some of my cards for a trade.
Found some USB C Ports for the NDSL on Aliexpress and I thought I'll give it a try. It took a while since I'm inexperienced with soldering. I also got a bit lucky that the port allinged that good, so I didn't have to grind material from the shell. I'm pretty happy with the result, it fits very good. 👌
I bought this online for a fair deal but it doesn’t seem to work. Tried cleaning it but nothing changed
It's a shame it's just a tech demo, but it's really cool to see it working in some way.
Hi, I found my old DS lite from when I was a kid and I remember I stopped playing it after I dropped it and the screen cracked. The bottom screen visually still looks good (excluding the giant crack pictured) but the touch sensor doesn’t work or at least doesn’t respond to input, which I think is due to the crack.
I saw a couple videos about replacement and it looks pretty straight forward (I’ve opened up/modified Xbox, 3DS, Wii, and so on before) but I went to Amazon to find a replacement and they are many different options and I’m unsure of which I need for my situation. I’ll link screenshots of the Amazon listing. I don’t need the most expensive, it will be used for LAN party when I have friends over.
Question: what part of the assembly or the whole assembly do I need to fix my screen?
Please ask any questions, I will do my best to answer them as quickly as I can.
I played this console when I was a child, and all my childhood pictures are there. I have no other place that save those memories, this console is broken,
But is there any ways so I can retrive the photos?
I turned a damaged Nintendo DS Lite into a custom framed teardown piece inspired by retro gaming culture.
Every component was carefully placed to preserve the identity of the console while giving it a second life as wall art.
This project is part of my idea behind Phonorama: transforming old electronic waste into collectible decor instead of letting it disappear as trash.
From the motherboard to the buttons and shells, each piece tells the story of one of the most iconic handheld consoles ever made.
Saw this one in marketplace and I'd like some advice on if it's worth it, 290$ bucks for both a DSi XL and 3DS XL
Some time ago my DS Lite fell down the shelf and the part you see in the picture broke. The console works just fine, but the upper screen now doesn't "click"/hold in position and just falls open with no resistance.
I do have the biggest missing piece (I don't know whether it suffices) but I don't know how to glue it/what to do with it.
Is there something I can do to restore the ability for my screen to "lock" semi-open?
Sorry for my terrible vocabulary, but I'm not writing in my first language
I got this for my birthday when it came out. And just today, my dog chews it to bits
