Shell swapped?
Ive got a Modded Crystal Xbox and the controller ports are black. Are they meant to be black or could it be a reshell?
EDIT- I forgot to mention that it has some red internal parts which are 3D printed

SOLVED! THANK YOU!
Hello, I bought this Xbox from a yard sale and it appeared to be a simple fix since it would power on and bring me to the dashboard no issue, just wouldn't read games. The Xbox functioned as intended except it couldn't read game discs, I knew it was the infamous clock capacitor since it had some corrosion near it. I removed it and cleaned up the corrosion and it still wouldn't read discs. I assumed it was likely the disc drive's laser, probably the potentiometer needing adjustment. I read the resistance at 1700 ohms and lowered it very slightly to maybe 1300 ohms and I cleaned the laser. I ensured all the ribbons were put back together but I can't help but feeling like I'm overlooking something very simple but I ensured all the ribbons were connected and nothing was loose
The disc tray ejected as normal so I knew the entire drive wasn't the issue, it's an Xbox 1.0. I tested it at various points and it consistently turned on until I adjusted the potentiometer, now it won't turn on at all, any tips? I put some pics of the motherboard and the disc drive below in case if someone spots something I can't. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thank you!
Nothing insane, I didn’t clear out some old ladies garage but this is
enough to make my weekend and hold me off for a while :) I now own three games, two controllers and I’m waiting for Crash Bandicoot Twinsanity to come in the mail!
Plugged the xbox in and when I went to power it on there was a loud pop and a spark at the back where the power cord plugs in and now I’m getting no power to the console. Tearing it apart I don’t see any issues but my knowledge on this is limited and I’m not sure if this is a mother board issue or just strictly the psu needing to be replaced this is a 1.0 model so I’m leaning more towards the whole psu just needing replaced. Any ideas?
Japanese Xbox bag might be one of my new favorite useless things 😂
I wanted to buy the Electronxout but for whatever reason it ships anywhere but europe. There is some on ebay but im not insane enpugh to pay a double/triple upcharge. Any other good alternatives?
As the title suggests I have a 1.5 with Xecuter 2.3b.
Recently took it out of storage and have managed to get it generally powering back on, I’ve checked the HDD and despite all odds it still spins and the partitions are readable.
Annoyingly the front panel switch is rusted out, and no longer appears to be working. So without intervention the box is failing to boot, the HDD isn’t locked so stock doesn’t work.
I saw somewhere a jump on pin 2+4 to boot bank 2 which works perfectly, straight into the Cromwell flash tool.
Annoyingly jumping 2+4+5 as suggested elsewhere doesn’t appear to be booting, and looks to go to the same stock error as if the chip was off.
I’m trying to preserve whatever environment I had setup, for some nostalgia, before diving into anything else.
Any recommendations on how to get the chip to boot?
We purchased the Halo Triple Pack for the original Xbox a number of years ago at a gaming convention in Norfolk, it took us a couple walk rounds to see it still sat there so decided to pick it up.
We already own all three discs separately but it's always nice to pickup a box set.
Always liked the front cover of the multiplayer map pack and we have Halo 2 a couple of times for the system (steel cased etc) personally having Halo 1 classics range wasn't what we expected as it just looks a tad off against the other discs.
What are people's thoughts 💭?
- Is it us being too picky and of course we've put the normal release version in it's place now.
- Do you also like to collect box sets of games even if you've got the games separately?
I'm looking to include my Xbox to my CRT set up but I'm not sure how to get the best result, my TV is a Sony KV-32FS120. I have a ElectronxOut.
Should I get convert through my Electron or should I invest in some good component cables? (Please provide recommendations)
Hi there just asking if any one knows when I turn it on the disc drive opens and doesn’t stay shut any idea on what it could be.
I bought an adapter to play games on my flatscreen but there’s tearing and flickering occasionally. Anyone know why or have a solution to this?
With all of the recent talk about discs becoming a thing of the past, I think there's no better example about the value of the used market than the Original Xbox.
The Xbox was released at an awkward time. When everyone thinks of this generation, they think of the PS2, because that's most likely what they owned at the time. Microsoft just barely managed to scrape by Nintendo, still being a distant 2nd behind Sony, not helped by how short the lifespan of the Xbox was. When people think of Xbox, they think of the 360, and the prices of everything original Xbox reflects that.
I can go into any local retro game store in my area, and chances are find an Original Xbox being sold for under $100, plus games that are often below 10. Games that, mind you, look and run a lot better than their PS2 counterparts thanks to the superior hardware. You can even get free online play, on any system now thanks to Insignia.
My point is that why would somebody want to spend upwards of $1,000 for a "top of the line" game system that barely gets any releases and is actively trying to make it harder for you to own anything when you can literally spend a 10th of that and get a whole heap of games that you can keep on your shelf forever? It just seems like a no-brainer to me. Obviously the general population is only interested in the latest and greatest, but the value of the used market, and ESPECIALLY this console, is unbeatable, and I can't imagine what it would be like if used games ever went away.
The only problems I can really think of in terms of barrier to entry is the aging hardware and the fact that obviously it's up to the community to support it, which thankfully the OG Xbox community is pretty decent at.
It's a real shame that every Xbox has that ticking timebomb of a clock capacitor inside of it, because it's the only thing keeping it from being a (barring other platform exclusives) definitive 6th gen gaming box that you can just plug in and play. Instead, I have to tell everyone that owns one to unscrew it and pull out the capacitor like a rotten tooth.
Anyways, it would be a shame if the used market goes, but PS5 has no games anyways and I'm sure PS6 will have even less. The good thing about this is that if the current gaming landscape keeps going downhill, more and more people will be interested in the good old stuff, like what they might have missed with the Original Xbox. Aside from my RGH'd Xbox 360, my Original Xbox is definitely one of the best purchases I've made in recent memory and I'd love to see people get more curious and interested in older consoles.
Hope you guys enjoy!

Needing some help understanding why my Xbox isn’t picking up an IP address. I soft modded with Rocky 5. Want to ftp library and use Insignia but can’t get it connected. I have WinsSCP FTP client.
I followed MrMarios soft mod video on how to mod the Xbox, got stuck at backing up eprom.
I’m using a PC to connect to, Ethernet cable from PC to Xbox to connect to internet. Tried 6 times but randomly worked so I was able to back up eprom but IP still shows 0.0.0.0 now
I enable sharing on my WiFi network but still gives me a 0.0.0.0 IP address. The FTP worked once, shows IP but now it’s back to showing 0s. How can I have it set for the Xbox to have an accessible IP Address?
