Is it worth it?

I saw an og Xbox on fb marketplace it’s listed for 30 bucks, comes with hdmi adapter no power cord ( dude says he’s using the one from his ps5 )
And 4 controllers ( all of them with drift ) and disk tray not opening, seller says it has a chip so it has games already installed.
The only problem i see it that’s the seller it’s like an hour away to where am staying so my question

Is it worth the drive?

Star Wars: Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight Xbox beta released

I'm in my 40's and haven't been an "in the trenches" programmer for many years. I work more as a project manager these days. So while I didn't write all the code, I knew how to direct it.

This is a fork of https://github.com/shinyquagsire23/OpenJKDF2 by shinyquagsire23. All hail, because frankly having JK and MotS open source was always my unicorn, and thanks to them and other contributors, we have it.

This is a public beta, so expect bugs. You can report them here. https://github.com/GTTeancum/OpenJKDF2ogx/issues -- In the same folder as your game you'll find a file called debug_openjkdf2.txt. This is our debug log. Drag and drop that into the text window when submitting a bug and it will attach that log.

FEATURES

  • Full single player support for Jedi Knight
  • Experimental multiplayer support for the Mysteries of the Sith expansion
  • Experimental support for mod maps (single an multiplayer) - but not any mods that change gameplay
  • Split screen multiplayer
  • Experimental System Link multiplayer. Expect issues here as I don't have two consoles to test that functionality
  • Cutscene support. You will need to run the included converter in the download to convert the original SMK and SAN cutscenes to Xbox XMV

FUTURE PLANS (WORK IN PROGRESS - NOT IN THIS BUILD)

  • Better dynamic lighting, including colored lighting in JK
  • Dynamic saber drawing -- not just a texture on a stick
  • Widescreen support, possibly up to 720p
  • Bot support. They work, they're just not smart enough yet. Regardless how far this gets I'll include them at whatever level they get to. Dumb bots are better than no bots.
  • Guest characters (Star Wars only). I already have Dash Rendar from Shadows of the Empire and several character models from the PS1 game Masters of Teras Kasi converted by our community members. They just aren't fully implemented. They will stay at the same 90's quality level, so no modern models
  • More shaders. I.E. if a textured wall has a "light" in the texture, it should glow and emit a bit of light
  • Overall though, the goal here is to keep this looking like JK/MotS, I just wanna shave a year or two off their age

Crystal 1.6 from electronic waste

Hi, I wanted to share a story - there was an electronic waste collection at my workplace, from which I brought an Xbox in the crystal version, which surprisingly (despite the complete lack of equipment) is in pretty good condition. I took it home, I couldn't let go xD Initially the console started, but only once, the problem turned out to be the capacitors, which, all 5 swollen I replaced, I bought an a/v cable and it works!, the console was previously modified, installed the EvoX dashboard (very cut, for example, without the choice of games or file explorer, strange because there was PES4 and Fahrenheit on the disk), I personally installed the unleashX dashboard more convenient for me and I keep discovering what's on this console (unfortunately I have a break because of the damaged hdmi adapter, I'm waiting for a new one), I also bought an interesting controller very cheaply, a licensed accessory from the xbox, I also removed the tin case inside to get Such an actual clear effect, now I’m also working on a transparent dvd drive housing (3d printing), which surprisingly works flawlessly in this one (i mean drive). Sorry for the long post (and bad english) but maybe someone will be interested

My xbox started fragging and now it never boots

I found this xbox somewhere in my house, nobody knows how it got there, i didnt have the AV cable so i did a mod to get direct output to the tv soldering 2 cables straight to the AV port on the underside of the motherboard and it worked great! for 3 days... it gave video and startup animation worked normal, but the problem is that the DVD drive was damaged, so what i did was connect the original dvd drive to the yellow power cable and port on the motherboard, but the IDE cable i connected it somewhere else, i didnt have another dvd drive so i had to use an old 52x cd-rom drive, and it worked fine, i burned HeXEn to a CD-R, it booted, i could also go to the dashboard, and everything was working great, i was trying to flash a bios with NoDVD patch so i didnt have to use that CD-ROM drive, but in HeXEn it game me "manufacturers id 09 device id 00 !! Flash Not Writeable !!"

The chip was an old aladdin xt plus2, the dvd drive has a date of 2004 inside so i guess that's when it was being used last, so i gave up on that, and was looking for a controller since i was using it with a keyboard, but sometimes the startup animation would freeze, and i had to turn the console off and then turn it on again to fix it, it got to a point where it started freezing earlier and earlier in the startup animation, until it only showed a tiny green dot on the screen, and when i turned off one more time, then i turned on and the xbox started to FRAG, and i tried to turn it on a lot of times now, but nothing seems to work.

I know it's not the mods i did that are causing it because it was working fine, it just started freezing out of the blue and now it never even boots anymore, i tried removing the chip, nothing, i tried removing the IDE cable, nothing (when it was working i could just turn it on without the IDE cable and it would give me error 07 or something, but this time just FRAGs) i have replaced some capacitors before and founf that one of them had a bad solder that moved so i fixed it but it still failed with the FRAG, the replaced ones are 2200μf 6.3V near the CPU, but that was only 2 i replaced, there are still some 1500μf 6.3V ones unreplaced, and yes, the clock capacitor did corrode some things and i took it out, even the power button trace was bad, but i fixed the trace thinking that was the problem, nope, still FRAG, i dont know what to do now. It's a 1.0 launch model

Any Must Have Games I’m Missing?

I’ve had an original Xbox for the longest time and I’ve only collected a few since it was passed down to me. As for the games I’m already actively searching for, it’s San Andreas, Conker, and Battlefront 2
