PSA : Don’t forget to shave your upper shelf if needed.

I ran a whole mag today and it felt glorious.

1111 RPM.

Turns out I was chasing my tail on issues that might or might’ve not been the problem, because early on I somehow missed the lever binding up on this upper shelf.

Before coming to that realization—I added two extra tungsten weights to my buffer, a titanium firing pin, flatwire spring, shaved the internal buffer weight, & added a centering washer to my lever.

Nothing was consistent until I ran a dremel across this area and went over it with sandpaper until the lever wouldn’t bind there anymore during firing, and she runs like a sewing machine now.

So you *might* not need the titanium firing pin, flatwire spring, or any of the upgraded internals~but they certainly won’t hurt. Just know what you’re buying.

Mine was certainly a hard format to start with being a blowback build with such a shorty barrel, but perseverance pays off.

Big thanks to u/blowback9 for being our grand master jedi of AR9 research and SS troubleshooting.

Dead trigger after multiple attempted fixes.

Still struggling with my 7” SS build in 9mm.

Build list :

7” H&R RRA Retro N-23 / Kitty Kat Custom Upper

Colt Style 9mm Dedicated PSA Lower

KAK Enhanced 9mm Buffer Gold Top (3x Tungsten, 1x Steel weights internal)

KAK Flatwire Spring (w/ plastic plug at the rear)

Mercury / Davidson Defense 9mm Bolt (w/ internal weight shaved flush)

Davidson Defense Titanium Firing Pin

FUDD SS Kit (Cut Trigger, Cam, Lever)

Navy TA01 ECOS

Metalform Mags

What I’ve confirmed :

There is 1/8 clearance whenever the lever is lain backward and can trap a drill bit.

I have a “half shelf” lower and cannot add washers on either side of the cam~so I’ve placed a washer directly onto the lever to limit side to side movement. Front to back movement is fine.

There is no dead trigger phenomena in semi mode.

So far I’ve added tungsten weights, flatwire spring, and the titanium firing pin and I’m still getting the same results as before the mods.

Nearly ready to pull my hair out lol.

I thought I was pulling the trigger too hard, but whenever i lightened the grip and pull, it just became a complicated bump fire tool and would still go dead.

My 733 and GAU-5 A/A uppers are absent. There's several more receivers and barrels in the parts bin waiting for funding on future projects lol.
