Besoms on a budget - what are your low cost hexing hacks?
This is a repost of an older thread of mine from r/witchcraft - original here. The reason I'm reposting it is this thread by u/pomegranatejello. I think low cost improvisation is a very useful thing to discuss. It's no coincidence that the two most recognisable pieces of equipment for the traditional witch/cunning person were cauldrons and broomsticks - two items found in almost every house.

I've noticed a number of posts from people worried about not being able to afford witchcraft paraphernalia, so I thought I'd start a post about people's low cost ways to approach practicing magic.
Quoting myself from one of these recent posts:
>The cunning people of the past used whatever they had available to them. Most of the archetypal implements of the cunning person or witch were things that could be found around the house.
>I think the ability to improvise - to put any available tool to use - is a really good skill for any practitioner.
In terms of my practice, I try to carry some string and a piece of chalk. I can knock up a pendulum from just about anything when I'm out and about. If I can't find something appropriate from the area, I can use one of my keys. The chalk is for sigils. I like the fact that they're inherently temporary and will be washed away by the next rain.
I've also recently used a defunct mobile phone as a scrying mirror. The black screen was perfect for the task.
So I'm looking for inspiration here - what low cost hacks have you found for practicing magic?
