As I get towards the last 10%-15% between oil changes, I’ll get a low oil pressure alert come on and go off when I’m driving, usually when braking at a light or accelerating; almost as if the oil is sloshing around.
I’ll pull over and check the dipstick and it’ll be low on oil. I’ll throw a couple quarts in and that alert will stop appearing.
Essentially, it’s burning oil between changes and I’m trying to figure out why. I don’t see any oil leaks, everything looks clean during the changes and no shop, mechanic or myself ever notice any oil in any place it shouldn’t be.
One mechanic recently when I told him this said it could be a warped head gasket from the factory and he’s seen that a bunch on the 1.5 and 2.0s from Honda. Is there any validity to this and is there a recall for this issue if that’s true? What should my next step be to diagnose or look into this?
