US B1/B2 Visa from Canada on Work Permit: Chances

I am Karthik (26M) from India, currently working in Toronto, Canada. I have about 5 years of overall experience with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in India and relocated to Toronto on an onsite assignment two months ago on a closed work permit.

I have submitted my DS-160 and am looking for US B1/B2 visa appointment slots. I am considering paying for an expedited slot service (~$750), but before committing, I’d appreciate community feedback on my profile and chances.

My profile & situation:

  • Purpose of Visit: Visiting the US for 1 week to see my girlfriend, who is currently living there on STEM OPT, and for general tourism.
  • Employment/Status: Employed full-time with TCS in Toronto with an active Canadian work permit and ongoing project responsibilities.
  • Concerns: I relocated to Canada only two months ago, so my residential and financial roots in Canada are still quite new.

Questions for the group:

  1. What are the realistic odds of approval given that I have been in Canada for only two months?
  2. What should I declare as the primary purpose of my visit (tourism vs. visiting a partner), and how heavily does having a partner in the US scrutinize non-immigrant intent?
  3. Is it worth paying extra for an earlier slot right now, or is it safer to wait a few months to establish stronger ties in Canada before interviewing?

Any insights, recent experiences, or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
